6 Things You’ll Need During Exam Week

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNCW chapter.

1. A positive attitude

Never walk into an exam with the mindset that you’re going to fail. Take your time and read questions carefully. You never know, you may surprise yourself! As long as you’ve studied, you will do great. Thoughts become things, so if you believe that you will do all right, you’ll likely do all right.

2. The correct times and dates of the exam

Make sure that you write down the time and dates for your exams because the teacher may not remind you or even have the accurate date and time. You don’t want to be the kid who shows up too late or too early to an exam. If you’re unsure, you can always email your professor or talk to him or her after class.

3. A study buddy/group

If you need help, ask for it! Study buddy sessions can be a great help in studying information that you forgot or just don’t quite understand. It never hurts to ask someone in the class to help you out with a study session.

4. Sleep

Most. Important. Thing. If you don’t give your body rest, you’re severely hurting your chances of doing well on the exam. Sleep helps your brain process the information that you’ve learned that day, as well as gives your body a break. Sleep is important. Don’t skip it to cram for an exam!

5. Coffee

Caffeine can be good in small amounts, and it can definitely be good if you’re sluggish on the morning of your exam. Having a cup of coffee to perk you up might be the thing your brain needs to “get in the zone.”

6. Randall Library

UNCW has a great place to study: Randall Library. Even though it can get pretty crowded on exam week, try reserving a group room the day before your exam so you have an ensured place to go. Group rooms are especially good if you are studying with multiple people and you all need to talk. But, if you don’t need a group room, try to get to the library early to get a good spot!
