How To Plan The Perfect Spring Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNCG chapter.

This is my fourth year of college and after experiencing the pain and inconvenience of planning Spring Break I have learned from my mistakes. Not everybody that you invite to your Spring Break location will be reliable and not everybody will have the money when Spring Break roles around. Here are some tips to ensure that your Spring Break plans happen regardless of the actions of others.

1. Research and pick your location early

Check websites often in order to receive the best location and prices. But pick as soon as possible before the prices begin to increase

2. Make a payment plan

Tell your friends to start saving up as soon as possible so that money will not be an issue. Make an excel spreadsheet and have them start paying for the trip in small increments to put less pressure on their bank accounts.

3. Have everybody pay months ahead of time

Even if you don’t want to do the payment plan, you should still have everybody pay for the trip early. Tell them it’s non refundable so that your location is secured.

4. Make sure you have extra money saved up for a rental car just in case

You don’t want the one person who was driving to inconvenience you if they decide not to go so plan to have money available for a rental or a plane ticket.

5. Be prepared for the unexpected

You never know what might happen so it’s always better to plan. Even if someone cancels on you, you can always invite another person to take their spot. Be prepared for something to go wrong because that’s life but the more you prepare, the easier it is for you to work past that situation and enjoy your Spring Break.

This year, I used all of these tips in order to plan my Spring Break. I had many friends who dropped out at the last minute but I did not let that ruin my vacation. Since our location was paid for in October, the rest of us are still able to go on our trip. I’m sure if you use my tips then this time next year you’ll be ready for your best Spring Break yet.
