Don’t Be Spooked if You Haven’t Reached This Year’s Goals

We have two months left. TWO. I’m wondering on a daily basis, ‘where in the world all of my time went this year?’ I had goals to reach, I had plans made, I had things I wanted to check off my bucket list… Hopefully I’m not the only one?

If you’ve thought about it nearly as much as I have, it’s a little bit of a stress-inducer, amirite? I have a few words to say about that extra anxiety building up from not getting this year’s goals knocked out:

Pretty please. Do me (and yourself) a huge favor and throw them out of the window. Why? This is not something to stress about! It’s a learning curve! Here’s what you need to do if you haven’t met your goals with the little time we have left this year:

1. Stop stressing out about it – I know I already said that, but you’re probably still stressing, so an extra reminder won’t hurt.

2. Write out the goals you had at the beginning of the year – Make a list- you can color it, doodle on it, burn it afterwards- whatever helps you most.

3. Figure out why you set those goals – What was your motivation? What made you choose that as a goal?

4. A lot changes in a year’s time; look through all of those goals and figure out which ones are still relevant (ones you’d like to keep) and out of the picture (ones you can toss).

5. For the goals remaining, figure out why they didn’t get completed. What was holding you back? How could they have been prioritized better? What can you do to remind yourself and motivate yourself to reach them?

Now, look over that list and tape it up somewhere. Keep it somewhere you’ll see it constantly. And get yourself to reach the goals you have on it! Maybe you added a few new ones, maybe you have the same list, maybe you have something completely different. Any of those are FINE! We still have two months left- even if those goals are long-term and are gonna take some time to get done, take them into the new year with you and kick ‘em outta the park.

As some Pinterest board I found once said:

“Be a pineapple; stand tall, wear a crown, and be sweet on the inside.”
