My hair and I have been through a lot. Due to genetics and an unfortunate amount of heat damage (thanks, middle school), it was a journey to find products that made a significant difference in the strength, texture, growth and overall wellness of my hair. It was brittle, dry and damaged. Now, I have a love for my thin hair that I never knew was possible, and these three products are to credit!

Mane ‘n Tail Herbal Gro Shampoo & Conditioner

Don’t let the horse image on the bottle discourage you — I swear by this stuff. I’ve been using Mane ‘n Tail shampoo and conditioner for years now, and I have nothing but positive reviews. If you’re looking to grow your hair out, this product should be the first thing in your cart! It’s made with olive oil and keratin, in order to encourage growth and strength in your hair. I wash and condition with this duo about twice a week, but you can always extend or shorten the time between shampoos depending on your scalp. I highly recommend the Herbal Gro duo.

OGX Renewing + Argan Oil of Morocco Penetrating Oil

This product made me fall in love with my hair again. After a shower, I apply a quarter-sized amount of the hair oil throughout my damp hair and wait for the magic to happen. When my hair dries, it’s no longer frizzy and dull, it’s now smooth and shiny. My hair splits easily, but this product renews and increases elasticity, preventing creasing and breaks. Be careful not to go overboard with the oil to avoid the illusion of grease. Otherwise, this product is a 10. It works, it smells lovely and it lasts me months!

Castor oil

This may be the least original of my recommendations to you, but it is worthy. Castor oil has been proven to increase hair growth not only on the scalp, but as well as for eyelashes and eyebrows. I specifically love this product for my brows, which are thin like the head on my hair. You can purchase bottles of castor oil that come with eyebrow and eyelash applicators, which makes the entire process even easier! Just apply the castor oil to the desired hair-ea (get it?) before bedtime every night. Then, wait to be amazed by the growth.

Figuring out which hair products work best for you can be tedious and expensive, especially when none of the hair product commercials feature hair like yours. My hope is that these products will make it fun for you to do your hair again. It’s worked for me!
