Medieval Times: A Great “Knight” Out

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UIC chapter.

Hosted in a castle with a jousting arena, delicious food, and very good-looking knights riding horses, Medieval Times is guaranteed to entertain people of all ages.

I had the pleasure of going there for my 21st birthday, and even though I felt skeptical because I thought it would be silly and embarrassing, I’m glad to say I was extremely wrong in my assumption.

Since it was my birthday, I purchased the Celebration Ticket Package which came with Priority and VIP seating, free stuff like a Knight’s Rally Towel and a Cheering Banner, a group photo where you have the option to dress up in costumes, a personalized announcement by the King and Princess, a slice of birthday cake with a lit candle, and lastly a crown! There are other ticket packages available and they must be purchased online at least a couple hours before the show starts so the staff can get things ready.

The castle doors open 75 minutes before the actual show starts, which usually is at 7:30 PM, giving people plenty of time to check in and settle. In addition, there were opportunities to order drinks at the bar as well as explore the various exhibits offered such as: admiring the horses, buying souvenirs, and touring around the Museum of Torture.

Due to the package I purchased, I was able to get front row seats when my party and I entered the arena. While watching the show, everyone was served a three course meal consisting of soup, the main entrée, and dessert.

Overall, the show was better than I anticipated and will more than likely come back!
