Halloween Costumes That Make Me Miss The 2000s

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UIC chapter.

I’ve always loved dressing up for Halloween, espcially as pop culture icons like Hannah Montana! While I love seeing people plan their moth and lamp costumes for this year, I’ve been a bit nostalgic for the Halloween looks from the 2000s. So, I looked back into five of my favorite Halloween costumes from that time frame, that I never got to dress up as, but admire from afar!

Mean Girls-With Halloween falling on a Wednesday this year, why not pink out your look and go as one of the “Plastics” from the popular movie, Mean Girls? It’s the perfect opportunity!

Cheetah Girls– If pink isn’t your thing, you can put on your cheetah spots! You can wear one of the Cheetah Sisters iconic velour sweatsuits with a matching headband. My mom bought me sooooo many velour sweatsuits when I was younger because I wanted to look like the Cheetah Girls!

Elle Woods from Legally Blonde– I always loved that, despite going to law school, Elle Woods, a bright and bubbly blonde never stopped being a fashionista. That involved  incorporating bright and loud colors into her outfit. My favorite part of dressing up as Elle Woods is that you can incorporate your fur baby into your look!

Britney Spears-Young Britney had so many different looks that there are so many ways that you can dress like Britney. My personal favorite has always been her red catsuit from her “Oops!…I Did It Again” music video.

White Chicks-By far my favorite Halloween look from the 2000s! There’s nothing better than dressing up as Marcus and Kevin..err…Brittany and Tiffany Wilson. I don’t think I could ever pull this off but I love seeing people recreate those swan dresses!
