Goodbye summer, hello fall season! With the change in the weather comes allergies and of course the common cold. Not to panic because the flu shot is not your only option. Here are a few ways that have been proven to beat that common cold.

·      Drink hot tea: it has been established that drinking hot tea helps your body fight off infections. Tea contains chemicals called catechins that help your system fight viruses.

·      Use your own writing utensils: when you sign a document at the store or the doctor or any other place, you are using the same writing utensil as several other people. This utensil is transmitting germs from person to person daily and of course during the flu season these germs spread easily.

·      Wash your hands: of course we can’t forget this old trick, always wash your hands with lukewarm water to kill germs.

·      Healthy breakfast: It is true that breakfast is the most important meal of the day! It has been proven that individuals who eat breakfast are less likely to catch a cold than those who do not. Many foods contain
micronutrients which help fight infections and put you at a lower risk of catching respiratory illnesses.

·      Flu shot: of course we see advertising everywhere telling us to get our flu shot; well it might not be such a bad idea. Influenza makes your immune system weaker, and this makes you more vulnerable to colds.
