As much as we all love The Biebs crooning about his relationship with a certain pop star (*cough* Selena *cough*), or listening to Selena Gomez’s weird obsession with touching people (she should probably find help, tbh), they can only be played so many times before they reach their expiration. Those songs, along with so many others, have arrived at the point of no return, where listening to them has turned from cheers of, “I LOVE THIS SONG!” to groans of, “PLEASE turn this song off, it’s giving me a headache!” You’ve probably memorized the lyrics to every song in the current Top 10, not because you want to, but because you can’t escape them. They’re playing on the radio, in stores, on your musically-challenged friend’s “New Downloads” playlist (because, let’s face it, there’s always that one friend that’s wayyyyyyy behind on new music). So, in an effort to avoid the summer-song slump and revamp you music library, I’ve compiled a playlist that is guaranteed to help you freshen up your summer…

Instead of listening to “Cake By The Ocean” by DNCE, try “HandClap” by Fitz and the Tantrums

An upbeat melody with a catchy, quirky chorus… Oh and did I mention the clapping? What’s not to love??

Instead of listening to “Work” by Rihanna, try “Ain’t Your Mama” by Jennifer Lopez

Great to dance to, plus you can actually understand the lyrics!

Instead of listening to “7 Years” by Lukas Graham, try “Mama Said” by Lukas Graham

Same beautiful voice, but a little bit more uptempo.

Instead of listening to “No” by Meghan Trainor, try “No Broken Hearts” by Bebe Rexha feat. Nicki Minaj

Dance floor anthems for independent women. Need I say more?

Instead of listening to “Pillowtalk” by Zayn, try “Champagne Problems” by Nick Jonas

Effortless swag and slightly-cheesy lyrics!

*Bonus points since they both survived boy bands!*

Instead of listening to “Stressed Out” by Twenty One Pilots, try “Polarize” by Twenty One Pilots

The only thing similar to Twenty One Pilots is Twenty One Pilots, tbh.

Instead of listening to “Love Yourself” by Justin Bieber, try “Run Wild (Acoustic)” by Jon Bellion

Acoustic & passive-aggressive… What’s not to love?

Instead of listening to “Roses” by The Chainsmokers feat. Rozes, try “Never Be Like You” by Flume feat. Kai

Chill, yet weirdly addicting. I dare you to not hit the “Repeat” button. Go ahead, try it, I’ll wait here.

Instead of listening to “I Took A Pill In Ibiza” by Mike Posner, try “Can’t Get Enough” by BRKLYN feat. Mariah McManus

A musically-driven emotional rollercoaster… Am I happy? Sad? Drunk? Idk, but I guess that’s the beauty of the music… and maybe the five wine coolers I just drank…

Instead of listening to “Can’t Keep My Hands To Myself” by Selena Gomez, try “Into Your Arms” by Capital Kings

It has similar beats that make you want to dance, but there’s an added rap element to make you feel way cooler when you’re blasting it in your car on the way to your yoga class!

Now go forth and spread the music!
