The Best 13 Things About Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UGA chapter.

Autumn is obviously the best season. Besides the cooler weather, there is just so much to do and experience from September through November, especially when on a college campus. Think of pumpkin and apple pie, Halloween and the colorful leaves. Here are thirteen things you have to look forward to this season, so you can have no problem saying goodbye to summer.

1. Football

What is one of the biggest perks of being a dawg? The answer is standing in Sanford Stadium with your closest UGA friends and watching the home games every fall. We are off to a pretty good start this year with 4-0. This football season may be our season!

2. Not Sweating Through Your Clothes When Walking to Class

I think everyone can agree, especially people that go to school in the South, that walking to class in the late summer heat is not fun. By the time you get to air conditioning, you are basically drowning in your own sweat. With the weather actually cooling down for fall, walking to class can be enjoyable and less of a hassle, especially walking through North Campus!

3. Autumn Activities

Who doesn’t love pumpkin carving, apple picking or corn mazes? Fall is all but scientifically proven to be the best when planning social events. There are a plethora of events, concerts and festivals you can go to.

4. Pillsbury Cookies

These things are probably 70 percent sugar, but they are 100 percent guaranteed to make you happy (and to be out of stock at Kroger by mid-October if you don’t get a move on it).

5. Pumpkin Flavored Everything

Don’t be a pumpkin-spice hater. It’s a thing. It may be a mainstream thing, but it is popular for a reason. Pumpkin Spice Lattes are perfect for fall and warming up in the chilly weather. Also, who doesn’t love pumpkin pie or bread?!

6. Sweaters.

Sweaters are basically cozy blankets you can wear out in public. They are so comfortable and can be really fashionable. Get ready for that sweater over the t-shirt “srat” look, coming soon to college campuses near you!

7. Holidays

Two of the best holidays, Halloween and Thanksgiving, occur during fall. They are both holidays where you eat (who doesn’t like eating?), and they bring friends and family together.

8. Old Disney/ABC Movie Marathons

Okay, this is a perfect nostalgic time as well. Movies from the late 1990s and early 2000s, or your childhood, are the best. Some of my fall favorites are Twitches, Hocus Pocus, and Halloweentown. Check out Freeform’s “13 Nights of Halloween” movie schedule

9. TV Shows Returning

All of the best shows, besides Game of Thrones, return in the fall! Some favorites coming back soon include Outlander, Supernatural and Riverdale. If you want to check out when your favorite show is returning or want to get hooked on a new show, check out this schedule!

10. Leaves

Another great perk of being on such a great campus is being able to see all the leaves changing colors in the trees. Fall is definitely the most beautiful time of year at UGA.

11.  Cute Clothes

Sweaters, leggings, flannels, scarves, beanies. Need I say more? There are too many cute options for fashion in the fall. It is a dangerous time to go downtown and look in all of the stores and boutiques because so many new styles are coming out this season!

12. Decorating

Whether it’s decorating for Halloween or fall in general, it’s always fun to spruce up your dorm or apartment. Check out the $1-$5 section at Target for cute signs, table pieces and other essentials for enhancing your living space.

13. Bonfires and Camping

It’s the perfect time to be snuggled up in a flannel in front of a bonfire. Grab your friends and escape to the mountains for a weekend for a camping trip. You won’t regret it, and you won’t forget the memories you make either.

What’s your favorite part about fall? We would love to hear some seasonal suggestions and what you love about it!
