Oh, the wondrous world of podcasts. From advice to true crime, from feeding intellectual thought to comedic rambles — the possibilities are endless. Whatever you’re interested in, I guarantee there is a podcast for it.

I personally love podcasts. Not only are they a nice change of pace when I’m in the rare mood of not wanting to listen to music, they really open your mind up to an incredible amount of knowledge. The chances of you not learning something after listening to a person ramble for 40-or-so minutes on a single topic are pretty slim.

Here are four of my favorite podcasts. Whether you’re just now getting into them or you’re already a religious listener, there should be something in this list for you.

“Thick & Thin” by Katy Bellotte

“The musings of a millennial girl living in New York City about life, love & everything in between.”

Every week, Katy Bellotte –– a YouTuber and blogger with a well-established following –– sits down at her New York City apartment with a glass of wine to talk about…well, anything and everything. The topics she covers range from growing pains, to experiences with college guys, to dealing with FOMO and so much more.

Listening to Katy on this podcast is the equivalent of hearing your older sister shower you with wisdom for 40 minutes. She does an amazing job of putting things in perspective by relating to her audience through her own life experiences. If you enjoy deep conversations about life and everything that comes with it, I would definitely recommend giving Thick & Thin a listen.

“Just a Tip” with Megan Batoon

“A comedic advice podcast that’s equally about tangents as it is about tips. Megan and rotating guests tell stories and act as cautionary tales so you don’t make the same mistakes they did.”

This podcast is proclaimed as an “advice podcast,” but I would argue that it’s much more based in comedy than it is in advice. Every week the host Megan Batoon is joined by a guest, and they essentially just have hilarious, yet relevant, conversations. There’s really no telling where each episode will end up, but one thing I can guarantee from this one is lots of laughter. Just a Tip is perfect for those of you who are just looking for something lighthearted and entertaining.

“Getting Curious” with Jonathan Van Ness

“A weekly exploration of all the things Jonathan Van Ness (Queer Eye, Game of Thrones) is curious about. Come on a journey with Jonathan and experts in their respective fields as they get curious about anything and everything under the sun.”

I mean, who doesn’t want to listen to Jonathan Van Ness talk about current events for 50 minutes at a time? Getting Curious is, by far, the most educational podcast I listen to. The topics covered are not taught in the traditional education system. Every week, he is accompanied by an expert to teach him (and us) about subjects such as medical marijuana, the importance of the US census, Planned Parenthood, the Amazon Rainforest and much more. If you’re looking to learn more about increasingly relevant topics that are communicated in an understandable fashion, definitely check this one out.

“Sleepy” by Otis Gray

“Sleepy is a podcast where host Otis Gray reads you to sleep with old books every week. Sweet dreams.”

If you have trouble falling asleep, I strongly recommend Sleepy. I guess it is technically ASMR, but I promise that it’s not the cringey type we avoid on social media!

As described by the summary, this podcast is based on the concept of bedtime stories. Otis Gray has a really calm, smooth voice and he reads classic stories like Cinderella and The Secret Garden to help you fall asleep. If you’re not completely falling asleep to this podcast (which, by the way, I highly doubt), you’ll at least reach a point of peak relaxation. This is a definite must-listen for all the insomniacs out there.

I hope there’s something in this list that appeals to you. Now, go! There’s a whole world of podcasts waiting to be listened to!
