StyLISAtion: The Versatile Braid Up Bun

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

You may think there isn’t a single hairstyle that would work in a business appropriate situation, on a girls night out, for a luncheon, or even on a trip to the gym, but I’m here to tell you I’ve found the ’do that will work for any situation. I like to call it the “braid up bun.”

For the how-to on this look, I decided to use my friend Teressa as my model. Readers, meet Teressa!

I usually rock the braid up bun when I want to dress up a pair of leggings and a t-shirt or when I’m headed to the office for a day of work. Not only is this style versatile, but it takes only minutes.

If you can French braid your own hair, this look is a cinch! Simply start the French braid from the bottom of your hairline and work your way up. It’s easiest to flip your head upside down and do this.

If you can’t French braid, ask your roommate or best friend to do it for you! Keep braiding until you get to about three-quarters up the back of your head, and secure the braid with a small rubber band to keep it from loosening.

Then pull your hair up into a ponytail. Once it is up, twist the ponytail around to make a bun and secure it with a ponytail holder or pins.

Hairspray any fly-aways, and you have a polished look for wherever the day takes you!
