Monday, April 1:
- A Connecticut woman said Joe Biden touched her inappropriately in 2009. This is the second woman alleging inappropriate conduct from the former vice president in the past week.
- The British Parliament failed to pass a Brexit plan, rejecting all four Brexit options. As of now, Britain will leave the EU on April 12 with no deal.
Tuesday, April 2:
- Chicago elects its first black female mayor, Lori Lightfoot. She also is the city’s first openly gay mayor.
- A chemical fire in Houston, Texas killed one person and critically injured two others. This is the second chemical fire in Texas in roughly two weeks.
- President Trump incorrectly said that his father was born in Germany. His father, Fred Trump, was actually born in New York.
Wednesday, April 3:
- The country of Brunei instituted a law punishing gay sex and adultery by stoning offenders to death.
- The UK House of Commons approved a bill designed to guarantee Britain can’t leave EU without a withdrawal agreement.
- A judge sentenced three former Penn State fraternity members to jail for the 2017 death of Tim Piazza that resulted from a hazing incident.
- House Democrat, Richard Neal of Massachusetts, filed a formal request with the Treasury Department to see six years of President Trump’s tax returns.
Thursday, April 4:
- The Mormon church repealed a rule that banned baptisms for children of gay parents and a rule that made gay marriage a sin worthy of expulsion.
- Police report that the man accused of the Christchurch mosque attacks will face 50 murder charges and 39 attempted murder charges.
- Jeff Bezos, Amazon CEO, finalized his divorce with his wife. He kept 75 percent of Amazon shares.
- The first official report from the Ethiopian Airline plane that crashed last month was released. It found the plane nosedived several times before it hit the ground and the pilots repeatedly followed procedures recommend by Boeing before the crash.
- New Mexico become the 14th state to pledge its electoral college votes to the winner of the popular vote.
Friday, April 5:
- The city of Chicago says it will file a lawsuit against actor Jussie Smollett after he refused to pay for investigation costs.

The economy added 196,000 jobs in March, bouncing back from February where only 20,000 jobs were gained.
Saturday, April 6:
- A New York man is in police custody after being arrested and charged with threatening to assault and murder Rep. Ilhan Omar.
- The FBI joins in the investigation of three historical black churches which have been burned down in a Louisiana community over the past few weeks.
- An earthquake of 4.7 magnitude hit near an in island southwest Alaska.
Sunday, April 7:
- Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen resigned. Kevin McAleenan, the current U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner, will become Acting Secretary.
- The remains of a suspected poacher were found in South Africa. They man had been killed by an elephant and eaten by lions.
