Lounge On: Looking Fab In Your Sweats

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

Your alarm is ringing once again to wake you up for your 8:30 a.m. lab on Friday morning. You’re ready to hit snooze just one more time, because you don’t want to take extra time to pick out a cute outfit. Whether you’re feeling too lazy to stick to your stylish quo or simply want something comfortable to study in at the library, loungewear should be your go-to fashion solution. Gone are the days where your boyfriend’s T-shirt and baggy sweatpants are your only options thanks to brands expanding to include stylish, lounge-worthy pieces. Use these tips to look fabulous in your loungewear.

Don’t Get Too Baggy

Your pants should never hang low enough to look like you just walked off the set of some ’90s rap music video. The occasional baggy shirt or loose-fitting pant is okay, but try your best to not wear both together. Instead, opt for a loose pant with a form-fitting v-neck tee to show a little bit of your figure.

Flatter Your Body

Pull off being cozy and looking sexy at the same time by remembering about today’s alternatives. Don’t just reach out for an old pair of sweatpants. Yoga pants aren’t just for yogathletes and leggings aren’t just for tunics! Both serve as the perfect alternative to your average sweats because they hug your curves and are super comfortable.

Crops & Tees

Graphic tees make a fashionable statement and are simple to throw on because they’re so effortlessly cute and comfortable. Crop tops and off-the-shoulder tees are unbelievably cute and show the perfect amount of skin to get guys to notice you even when you’re rocking your favorite pair of sweats.

Accessories Are Your Best Friends

Just like hats and scarves can fix your bad hair days, accessories will jazz up your bum days. Channel your inner Carrie Bradshaw and add a string of pearls to your loungewear to add flair and class to a simple outfit. If pearls aren’t your style, try incorporating necklaces or bracelets – however simple or bold you want – to turn a comfortable outfit to a trendy one. And don’t forget about hair accessories. Make headbands your best friends on these days. Because chances are, if you were too lazy to look through your closet for a stylish outfit, you don’t even want to think about what to do to your hair. Hair wraps and headbands will make your ensemble look more polished and put together.

Born in New York, she moved to Orlando, Florida with her family 6 years ago and is now residing in Gainesville, Florida, thus experiencing life in both urban and rural areas. When she isn't watching E!, obsessing over Gossip Girl, working part-time at Hollister, singing along to Taylor Swift's songs, shopping, or baking, Karina enjoys journaling, taking photos around campus, and spending time with her friends and family. Because she's interested in fashion, music and journalism, after college Karina hopes to move back to New York City and land a job at a prominent magazine. (Because magazines aren't dead.) ♥
