How Your Wardrobe will Change After Easter

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

Easter weekend is a time spent with family. A time perhaps spent in church, dying Easter eggs or indulging in chocolate. But one thing is for sure: Easter weekend is definitely one of the most fashion-influencing holiday weekends of the year. When I was a little girl, I remember being told that black shoes were to be worn before Easter, and white shoes were to be worn after the Easter holiday. This is one fashion rule that I definitely broke on many occasions growing up. Alas, time hasn’t changed too much because for many fashion companies and designers, the Easter season is a time of transition, when stores swap their winter clothing for spring and early summer apparel. Get ready to pack away your sweaters and bring out the cute crop tops! Here are some other changes that are sure to happen in the coming weeks after Easter.

Whites: A very predominant transition after Easter weekend is apparent right from the start. Even while simply window shopping, you’ll notice a difference from the dark, black winter colors, to the lighter colored spectrum. Whites are wonderful because they not only match just about any outfit, but they also brighten up your complexion and can make you look tanner! Online boutiques such as Tobi and Lulu’s have hundreds of white dresses in just about any style. White looks amazing in sundresses, but it also looks chic on wedges, purses and rompers!

Pastel Colors: Pastels tend to make their debut the week before Easter in a majority of stores. Lilly Pulitzer will often give away free gifts with purchases snf release many brightly printed dresses to prepare women for late spring and the early summer season. Boutiques and college-town stores such as Henri Girl and The Colorful Gator start marketing summer and festival-season staples in pastels such as lavender, aqua, mint green and peach.

Goodbye Boots, Hello Sandals: Immediately following Easter weekend, stores switch out all dark-leathered shoes and boots for brightly colored sandals and flip-flops. If you are searching for pricier, high quality shoes, check out Kate Spade for some fun and bright sandal colors! H&M and Forever 21 also have some great options for summery footwear. This time of the year is especially a fun time to go shopping for statement shoes, such as wedges printed with colorful fabrics that can be worn with light summer dresses.

Lighter Fabrics: The bulky wool and leather tend to be traded out for airier cottons and lightweight fabrics at this time of year. These fabrics are much more convenient as they take up less space in your closet than sweaters and jackets do. These fabrics are easier to wear layered under cute jean-jackets on breezier nights or worn alone on a sunny day.

Nautical Transition: Nautical prints, accessories and jewelry tend to make an appearance during early April to prepare women for the summer season. Martha’s Vineyard is on everyone’s minds as Vineyard Vines comes out with its new line of summery clothing and cute beachy baseball caps and sunhats. Jadelynn Brooke has fun and trendy T-shirts as well as baseball caps for great prices as well!

So get ready to pack up those bulky sweaters, and bring out those cute pastel tops for the new season. No matter your sense of style, you will look flawless in your post-Easter wardrobe!
