Her Campus: What is your position on campus?Ā Ivana Radovanovic: āIām the president of (Gator) Synchro.ā
HC: How did you get involved?Ā IR: āI got involved because I used to do (synchronized swimming) before⦠This is my ninth year doing it. Most girls on the team are experienced, but we have a couple that just started in college.ā
HC: What is your favorite part of being in the club?Ā IR: āYou get a lot of bonding time, and you wouldnāt expect how many friends you make out of it; you make really long relationships. They know you differently than school friends. When youāre at practice you are weirder, and you donāt really care how you look and stuff like that, so itās a lot more fun.ā
HC: And the biggest challenge?Ā IR: āBalancing school and swimming. Thatās definitely a big one, but itās possible.ā
HC: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?Ā IR: āThe thing with this sport is you always are connected with it, so whether I still swim or I donāt swim, Iāll still be connected. I see myself working in my major but still involved with synchro, going to the meets and stuff like that.ā
HC: What are your hobbies?Ā IR: āI like to hangout with my roommates and play board games.ā
HC: Do you have any hidden talents?Ā IR: āI speak a lot of languages: Spanish, English, Serbian, Portuguese and French.ā
HC: Who is your role model?Ā IR: āI think itās my mom. Sheās really tough with her whole life, but she always keeps her head up with whatever gets thrown at her.ā
HC: What advice would you give to new students?Ā IR: āGet involved, and meet new people. Donāt hide in a shell and get scared of UF.ā
HC: What is your favorite memory at UF so far?Ā IR: āMy first day here and realizing āIām a big girl now,ā like Iām on my own.ā
