Gator Glam: Foolproof Game-Day Makeup

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

Humid weather is the worst, and it’s not very kind to our hair or our makeup, either. Other than that, it is also very unpredictable because it can be sunny one minute and sweaty, soggy and sticky the next. But you have nothing to be ashamed of, girl! Because here are some tips and tricks to beat that weather just in time for football season.

1. Foundation? I’d rather not…

Heavy foundation can easily be replaced with a BB or CC cream,— or even a tinted moisturizer —and still have the same coverage! Since foundations can feel a lot heavier on the face with humid weather, a good BB or CC cream can do the same job. Its moisturizing and SPF benefits don’t hurt either. For those that don’t use high-end BB or CC creams, here are some recommendations that you can get at your local drugstore:

Visibly Even BB Cream: The only downside to this product is that the skin tone shades are very, very limited. The shades rangeonly from fair-light and light-medium.

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream Skin Perfector: This BB cream is very popular among women of color because its shade range is varied and includes darker skin tone colors.

2. Waterproof everything

This is literally the best trick in the book— it keeps your makeup from getting runny and helps it stay in place much, much longer than non-waterproof makeup. Opt for waterproof mascara, waterproof blush, bronzer, eyeshadow, etc., etc.… It all exists! Here are some recommendations:

Rimmel London Natural Bronzer: This is a good bronzer if you really need it to be water-resistant. And isn’t the sun on its palette just so cute?

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Eye Shadow: Waterproof eyeshadow really exists and it’s here to stay. Other than it being waterproof, it’s also creaseless, and it won’t move during the day. Blessed. L’Oréal Paris has an awesome eyeshadow collection, and you can find it at your local drugstore. You can use them as eyeliners, as well!

3. Choose Matte

Clinique Stay-Matte Oil-Free Makeup: While using highlighter and glittery products is the trend (and it looks like it’s here to stay) the facts are that matte products last longer. This is because shimmery products tend to run and get messy since they don’t stick, while matte products stay put.

4. Invest in a makeup setting spray

NYX Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray: Makeup setting sprays are not that hard to find nowadays, especially since drugstore brands like NYX, e.l.f., and Maybelline carry setting sprays that are excellent and work just as well as high-end brands, and they provide a matte finish as well! Neat, huh?

So, basically here’s the ultimate guide to not letting the weather ruin the beautiful makeup you spent so much time on, so you can get right onto tailgating. Go Gators!
