The Earlybird’s Guide to Gift-Giving

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

Holiday shopping is a year-round event for me. I strongly believe in buying something when you see it and holding onto it for a few months if necessary. With the holidays under two months away, I’m ready to begin my adventure of gift-giving.

Etsy: If you don’t already shop on Etsy, you’re seriously missing out. I couldn’t begin to pinpoint what shop to even buy from, but it has everything you could possibly imagine. Does your best friend love Gilmore Girls? There’s plenty of creative gifts that she’d love. Imagine any fandom that you love — there’s most likely plenty of products to choose from.

Amazon: Once again, I proclaim my love for shopping on Amazon. This is a good place to find surprisingly funny gifts, like profane coloring books, that I’ve definitely given as a gift. If you need something simple like a cool astronomy mug or a rock lamp, Amazon has those too.

Redbubble: For sticker fanatics, Redbubble is the place to go. This UF sticker is perfect for a big Gator fan and there’s others for just about anything you could think of. And to just highlight stickers would be cutting Redbubble short — it’s filled with a lot of great art, decor, phone cases, shirts and plenty of other pieces.

And if your budget is a little tight:

Make a playlist: Hear me out — the power of the playlist is real. Take the time to make a custom-made playlist for someone that you love, and I’m sure that they’d appreciate it. It’s a thoughtful gesture that’s been outdated by the premade playlists on every music streaming platform.

Craft: Now, I’m not particularly skilled at crafting myself, but in the age of Pinterest, it’s easier to DIY than it used to be. Canvases are fun and easy decor to make for someone, and you can base the design on your skill level. Pinterest also has endless DIY ornaments that are festive.

It’s never too early to be prepared; happy shopping!
