10 Everyday Items we Wish were Monogrammed

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

As someone who grew up in Williamsburg, Virginia, I definitely consider myself a Southern woman. I once saw an e-card that said, “If you’re a Southern woman, the urge to monogram everything you own comes as natural as a Southern man’s urge to kill anything with fur or feathers.” When I first read this, I laughed and realized that’s exactly me. I would monogram everything if that were possible. My current obsessions are brands that have a strong focus on monogramming. Marley Lilly and Moon & Lola are my favorites for jewelry and accessories, and one day I hope to own a Louis Vuitton monogrammed bag. This led me to think, what if more than the typical bags and jewelry could be monogrammed? Here’s a list of everyday items that definitely should be monogrammed but haven’t been advertised as so yet.

1. USB stick: Never fear mixing up your plain old USB stick with someone else’s again! With a pop of color and your initials, you’ll never have to worry about grabbing the wrong one.2. Nike running shoes: I’ve seen monogrammed rain boots, Converse and cowboy boots, but never before have I seen running shoes monogrammed. This personal detail would add a pep in your step as you go for a daily jog or even decide to run a full marathon.3. Your house key: With so many house key styles and colors that you can now create at Home Depot and Lowes (I have a princess one with diamonds), why not have a monogrammed key? Monogram your house key so you never have to dig through your pile of keys trying to figure out which one goes to which door.4. Starbucks cup: No longer will you have a misspelled name. Now tell the barista just three initials and have a temporary monogram as you sip your coffee before class.5. Your earbuds: It always happens. A friend will forget her earbuds at home and ask to borrow yours at Library West. She won’t forget who they belong to if they have your initials on them! They’ll be returned in no time, so you can go back to jamming to your music.6. Textbook cover: Sure textbook covers come in all colors and patterns, but monograms? That would be the perfect addition. Choose a different color for each class and never have your book mixed up with another person’s again.7. Dishes: Add a classy touch to your silverware and dishes while company is over for the weekend, or as you are throwing a nice brunch for your friends.8. Doorknobs: This would be a cute addition to any girl’s bedroom door. Never wonder who lives in each room again at the sorority house. Simply have a cute monogrammed doorknob on each bedroom door instead.9. Gift cards: A gift card to any store would feel much more special with a personal touch of one’s initials manufactured into the design. Imagine receiving a pink striped Victoria’s Secret gift card with your initials in the middle of the design. You would want to keep the card even after spending all of the money!10. Anything and everything Lilly Pulitzer: Lilly Pulitzer is already amazing and loved by women globally, so why not take it up a notch? A monogram would look adorable on Lilly scarves, sweaters, flip flops and wedges.

Companies, take notice. We want more monogrammed products! Who doesn’t love having her personal belongings reflect her individuality and style? Personalized products are a must have, and we wish we could have more.
