This week I had the opportunity to meet and talk to one of my fellow HerCampus gals. Meet Jennifer Shin, pronouns she/her, a Marshall college second year from Corona, California majoring in Visual Arts Media. I interviewed her to get to know a little more about her time here at UCSD.
1. Why did you choose UCSD as your school?
Honestly my junior year of high school, that was when everyone was like “you gotta know what you like want to be and like where you want to be after high school” and I was kind of freaking out and so I started visiting campuses. My cousin graduated earlier this year from here and so she gave me a campus tour my junior year and I really liked the school and so after like a lot more research this became my top choice school. I’m really grateful I got in.
2. Who and/or what is your biggest source of inspiration and motivation?
Oh…my parents are just…there came a point one day where I realized that their whole lives revolve around me and so I just want to return even a bit of that.
3. In 5 words or less, describe your craziest or most memorable college experience thus far.
Sunset. Cliffs. Best. Friend.
4. What is your go to spot on campus?
I always end up at Price Center.
5. What advice would you give to someone who is struggling to find themselves here at UCSD?
Umm…I guess that they aren’t really as alone as they think they are. Coming out of like all online and remote learning and then suddenly coming here is really confusing and tough for a lot of us. It’s okay to look out for other organizations and clubs on campus because a lot of people feel very similarly.
6. Why did you join HerCampus at UCSD?
It was hard for me to find friends on campus last year because it was genuinely socially dead and so yea…I just thought HerCampus being an all-girls club would be really fun to join and be a part of.
