Parents Day Excursions in San Diego

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCSD chapter.

With parents weekend quickly approaching, many students are left in the struggle of attempting to show to their parents that they don’t spend all day holed up in their rooms or Geisel, and really do have lives. There are many places to go in the surrounding area that show your parents you have a pretty good life down here at UCSD.

The Birch Aquarium at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography is a great place to take you family no matter the ages. Small children are fascinated by the colorful fish and lets be honest the adults are too. From the giant pacific octopus to the bay of sharks, there is educational entertainment for the entire family. The La Jolla Playhouse located on the main campus is a good resource to show your parents that you are living a cultured adult life here at college. They have a diverse range of shows that are guaranteed to impress your parents.

Off Campus more towards the heart of San Diego there are many locations that will awe your parents. Balboa Park is home to many diverse museums from history, to art, to science, and even the zoo. This is a sweet place that has great vibes as well as many options that can cater to any number of your family’s sundry interests.

Many times, we as students tend to focus solely on academics and neglect having fun in our lives. Parents weekend is a great time to remember to find the fun in attending school in beautiful San Diego, and hopefully inspires us all to remember to have fun during the duration of our academic careers at UCSD.
