It’s a new month, which means it’s time to reflect on February and all of the amazing things that came from it. Here are my favorite things that I enjoyed during February!

Cafes

Pinpoint Cafe

Pinpoint Cafe has become my new favorite study spot. It only takes about 15-20 minutes to get there from campus, depending on the bus schedules, and has an amazing view of Scripps Pier and the ocean. I love grabbing a pastry and sitting there for hours while doing homework.

Pannikin La Jolla

Pannikin is another super cozy cafe in La Jolla. They always have fun drinks and pastries, lots of outdoor seating, and a peaceful atmosphere full of plants and cool decor. It’s also right next to D G Wills Books, where you can find a driveway full of books for $1!

Podcasts

Skinny Dipping by Kela Rose

This podcast was my absolute favorite last year and got me into listening to podcasts and it’s finally back for its third season! Their topics in the past have ranged from spirituality, relationships, and mental health to sexuality, body confidence, environmentalism, and creativity. The episodes are the perfect combination of motivation, positive affirmations, and realness, and I’m super excited to see where the new season goes.

no explanation needed by Lucy Massam

This is a new podcast by YouTuber Lucy Massam. Lucy is a senior at UCSB who posts vlogs about her life in college and mental health journey. There’s only one podcast episode out so far, which is about the importance of saying no and setting boundaries, but she plans to talk about mental health, sobriety, wellness, sexuality, and confidence. Her first episode felt like a conversation with a friend rather than a podcast, and I can’t wait to hear more.

TV SHOWS

Sex and the City

My suitemate and I started watching Sex and the City at the beginning of winter quarter, and it’s already become such a fun part of my routine. The episodes are only 25 minutes long, so they’re perfect to squeeze in on busy nights or in between classes. Although we’re about 20 years late on the bandwagon, I highly recommend watching if you haven’t yet, especially if you need a dose of New York City romanticization, 2000s fashion, and funny relationship drama.

GAMES

Wordle

By now everyone knows about Wordle, but for good reason. I always get excited to solve the day’s Wordle at midnight or when I wake up, and I love talking about it with my friends. It’s a super fun start to my day and a great way to get a mini confidence boost by accomplishing something small.

Experiences

Camping at Anza Borrego State Park

At the beginning of the month, I went on a weekend camping trip to Anza Borrego Desert State Park. Being in the desert was such a relaxing and rewarding experience. We spent our days hiking, sightseeing, and looking at the stars, which you can see really well out in the desert. It definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone since I had never been camping, but I loved being able to get away and spend time outside with friends.

Club 90’s Taylor Swift Night at House of Blues

This month I also went to a Taylor Swift club night at House of Blues San Diego. I love Taylor Swift so it was so fun and also very therapeutic to sing and dance to her music all night. Club 90’s hosts other themed club nights in different cities for tons of different artists, like One Direction, Bad Bunny, Doja Cat, and Lady Gaga. I highly recommend going to a club night for your favorite artist. You’ll definitely have a great time!

Galentine’s Day

Another highlight of my month was a Galentine’s Day picnic my friends and I had at Gliderport. I love any excuse to dress cute, eat good food, take pictures, and watch the sunset, so it was perfect! We all brought an assortment of themed desserts, mini sandwiches, and snacks and enjoyed the beautiful sunset. I love planning fun events with friends and can’t wait for the next holiday to celebrate together.

I hope this list inspired you to reflect on your favorite February moments. Happy March!
