This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCSD chapter.

Although I am someone who puts on makeup and has an interest in cosmetics, I find myself being intimidated by all the social media beauty gurus who perform excessive routines and purchase expensive products. I care about beauty and skin care; however, as a college student, I cannot afford all the time in the world to glam myself up everyday.

Considering my situation, I tend to settle more towards uncomplicated routines and reasonable-priced products. Fortunately, Glossier has made an empire out of their “no-makeup” makeup look trademark, targeting people who seek simplicity and natural beauty. After being a loyal Glossier customer for the past few years, I have found my bathroom shelf stocked with their skincare and makeup products. After careful consideration, I have compiled seven Glossier products that should be an essential to everyone’s routine–and no this is not an ad or a sponsorship, I am just that much of a fan. Glossier proves that makeup can be effortless!

  1. Priming Moisturizer Balance–Oil Control Gel Cream

As annoying as it is, my skin type is prone to acne and oil shine. Because of this, I am very picky with my products. However, when I discovered and read the reviews for Glossier’s Priming Moisturizer Balance, I was intrigued and had to try it out.

I was surprised at how the results were immediately apparent. I love how this gel-cream moisturizer is mattified but balances the oil in my skin without leaving it dry. Not only was my skin feeling hydrated and healthy, the oil shine control was visibly noticeable. The gel-cream absorbs quickly, allowing this lightweight feeling even after I apply a coat of makeup on top. If you are struggling with oil or combination skin, this oil control gel cream is specifically formulated for you.

  1. Stretch concealer

As previously mentioned, my skin is acne prone which means I tend to have blemishes and red spots on my face. Luckily, Glossier seems to solve a lot of my skin problems. After applying SPF and BB cream, I can easily “paint” and hide any scars or pores by applying my G8 (my Glossier skin shade code) concealer. Glossier offers 12 shades developed to enhance a variety of skin tones. The concealer works like magic and my blemishes are nearly undetectable.

  1. Boy Brow

The Boy Brow. Now this was a total game changer for me. Rather than coloring in, you can brush your eyebrows as if you are applying mascara on them. Sometimes eyebrow pencils are too pigmented and make the brows look overly-drawn or too thick. I have thin eyebrow hairs, so I prefer to color them in a subtle way–as if my eyebrows are naturally filled. By using the tinted brown shade Boy Brow, I can achieve natural, shaped brows in literally a few strokes.

  1. Pro Tip–Brush Point Liquid Eyeliner

Drawing that perfect winged eyeliner can be tricky. While practice is key, so is using the right tool. The Pro Tip is an easy-to-use liquid eyeliner that allows for smooth application. The brush tip has precise definition and is made with a formula that dries quickly, meaning it does not smudge. It is also worth noting that the product stays put for almost 12 hours!

  1. Lidstar

The Lidstar is what got me into using Glossier in the first place. I was fascinated by this innovative liquid eyeshadow that I can put on my eyelids like lipgloss. The formula feels silky and sheer and swipes across my eyelids easily. The brand has these incredibly beautiful colors and shades that glow all day long. It all seems too good to be true.

  1. Lip Gloss

It’s not Glossier without the “Gloss.” The brand’s lip gloss definitely lives up to the hype. Not only does the gloss leave a glassy, glistening surface, but it keeps the lips soft and moisturized with their Vitamin E and Jojoba Oil formula. As much as I love a nice lip tint, a lot of products have insufficient formulas that chap the lips. Glossier provides comfortable lip glosses that maintain moisturization. Its long-lasting and holographic shine is the finishing touch to any natural, casual makeup look.

  1. Balm Dotcom

Balm Dotcom is quite literally the bomb dot com. The lip balm is a cult-favorite with eight different fun flavors. Like lip glosses, certain lip balms tend to irritate the skin. I have tried several different chapsticks and balms, but they did not completely heal dry lips–some would even make the sensitivity worse. However, the Balm Dotcom is really a “universal skin salve” as they claim in their packaging. The balm is made from heavy-duty moisturizers such as Castor Oil, Beeswax, and Lanolin, which help seal in moisture and hydration. But most importantly, the flavors are sweet and fragrant–it can be addicting to apply the balm.

Glossier makes products that are specially formulated and designed for a variety of beauty and skin types. The brand caters to the customers’ needs, and it makes you think why this brand hasn’t appeared in your life sooner.
