Spring time is my favorite season, not only for the flowers and flawless weather, but also because it is the beginning of baseball season! Having grown up with a brother and dad who are huge baseball fans, I have come to actually enjoy the sport and actually understand (who wouldn’t like attractive men in tight pants, am I right ladies?) I know not all collegiettes are baseball pros, so if you are going to a baseball game this season (whether it’s the Padres or the UCSD team) here are my top 5 tips to faking understanding the game!
1. Wear apparel of the team you are supporting
Nothing says you know what you are talking about more than ‘repping the team you’re cheering for.
2. Familiarize yourself with the basic terminology
You don’t want to be the person asking if the team just scored a touchdown. Know the basic lingo so you can avoid blowing your cover.
3. Don’t ask a lot of questions
They are trying to watch the game and do not like to be distracted. Try to keep it at 2-3 questions.
4. Sit around people who do know what they are doing
Follow the lead of those around you who are also wearing apparel of the team you are supporting. Fans at baseball games are always friendly.
5. Have fun!
No one likes the person who goes to watch a game and sits on their phone the entire time taking selfies.
