What Your Halloween Costume Should Be Based On Your Favorite Gilmore Girls Character

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

If you’re a last-minute Halloween costume creator like me, you’re probably struggling right now to throw together items that make a complete costume but still capture your personality. Look no further! Here are some easy costumes that fit your vibe based on your favorite Gilmore Girls character.

Logan

Logan is mysterious. He always seems to have a side quest going on that Rory doesn’t know about. Therefore, if you love Logan, you probably also have an ulterior motive on Halloween night. Whether you’re TP-ing someone’s house on mischief night or just trying to lay low, you should wear a simple costume with a masked element. Maybe a suit or business casual with an animal head. Something that doesn’t make TOO much sense, because Logan never does. Logan is classy but a little mischievous, and this way your identity won’t be compromised while you’re hanging out with your secret society friends.

Lorelai

Lorelai never truly got to grow up, which is why I think Lorelai would go all out on Halloween. Similarly to when she tried to recruit Luke for a Halloween skit for the trick-or-treaters, Lorelai would conjure up her inner witch and go all out. So, hit Spirit Halloween for some green face paint and get ready to talk in spells all night.

Emily

Emily, if she ever participated in Halloween, would have the most refined and gorgeous outfit out there. I picture her being a queen or a princess and throwing a luxurious Halloween ball at her house. When Emily does something, she does it right. Although, her costume would probably be custom designed and thousands of dollars. So dig out an old crown, a solid color outfit and pick a Disney Princess to embody this Halloween.

Luke

Not only do you have immaculate taste, but you probably don’t want to put any effort or money into Halloween, just like Luke would. Luke would keep the same flannel and backwards hat on and be a lumberjack. So, put on your high school soccer jersey or whatever place you work now and be yourself in a specific setting.

Side Note: Although Luke would never put effort in for himself, if Lorelai asked him to dress up, he would go all out. So, it’s likely that if your significant other asked to do a couple’s costume, you would probably DIY it for them.

Jess

In no universe does Jess dress up for Halloween. But, if I had to choose, he would probably be a character in an obscure book, like The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe. Something from a classic, nothing written before 1900. Be prepared for no one to know what you are, but honestly if you’re like Jess, you’ll probably enjoy that.

Rory

Rory would be a less obscure book character. For some reason, even though it was never mentioned in the show, I feel like Rory is the biggest Harry Potter stan in the world. Something about her wearing a striped scarf and holding a wand just makes perfect sense. She’s cute but nerdy, she embraces all parts of herself and is a girl boss. If Rory is your favorite, you should be Hermoine for Halloween.

Dean

Considering the fact that I refuse to believe ANYONE’s favorite character could possibly be Dean, this category is not necessary.

Personally, I will literally be going as Rory Gilmore for Halloween so I find myself pretty reliable on the subject. I hope these suggestions helped spark some ideas of what you can whip up for the big day!
