So You Want a Toned-Up Tummy? Follow these 5 tips from celeb trainer, Kathy Kaehler to get that sexy summer six-pack!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

The following tips suggested by celebrity trainer Kathy Kaehler will flatten, sexify, and tone-up your tummy just in time for bikini season. There is no better timing to get your bod ready for some fun in the sun!

Follow these five easy tips to get that summer 6-pack:

  1. Skip the soda! Instead, drink more plain, flat water. You stay hydrated and allow your body to flush and flush while avoiding bloating.
  2. Reduce your calorie intake! You can make a meal replacement. Stay away from processed food and an easy way to remember is if you have food that comes in a box or bag chances are you just added salts, preservatives and other things that can just cause you to bloat.  Always make sure to have a balance of nutrients to have sufficient energy especially since us Bruins hit the books. Look for those foods that are closest to their natural states which can be found at the local Ralphs store, Trader Joe’s, or Whole Foods. These foods have higher water and fiber content, which always improves the shape of the belly.
  3. Do the plank! This exercise works your muscles from top to bottom all you have to do is simply  be in the push up position with elbows on the floor and try to hold it for about a minute. The plan can fit into almost anyone’s routine and can be done in the comfort of your dorm, apartment or Wooden.
  4. Avoid greens! Interestingly, if you want to get that belly to fit into that super cute outfit on a particular night you should keep the veggies at bay hours before then. This will give you less bloating.
  5. Walk walk and walk! Walking works all over and can be done within our very own campus of 419 acres!

Madeline Hunt is a senior at UCLA majoring in Communication Studies with a minor in Spanish. Originally from the laidback beach-town of Santa Barbara, the California native finds the fast-paced nature and eccentricity of LA extremely exciting. Once more, she decided to expand her horizons when she studied abroad this past fall in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Madeline wants to pursue a career in the entertainment industry and is considering broadcast journalism and public relations as potential options. On campus, she is currently the Public Relations & Marketing Director for the student- run organization Fashion and Student Trends and an intern at E! News. She served as an entertainment reporter on UCLA’s accredited student newspaper, The Daily Bruin, under the video division and is a current member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. During her free time, she enjoys playing tennis, exercising, going to the beach, shopping (online shopping will be the death of her!), reading Glamour and Cosmo, eating Mexican food and sushi, spending time with her friends, practicing her Spanish, and satisfying her weakness for caffeine with Starbuck’s lattes.
