Relaxing Student-Life Tips To Finish This School Year Off Strong

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

I find it hard to focus on my schoolwork any time of the year, but when it comes to Spring Quarter, the amount of distractions increases by a hundred and schoolwork is genuinely the last thing I want to do. It might be because the weather is so nice or because summer break is so close, but getting through Spring Quarter is one the biggest academic challenges known to mankind. To help ease some of the million distractions, here are a few ways you can focus on your school work without stretching yourself too thin.

Study Date on The Kuruvungna Steps

This one is pretty basic, and you’ve probably had it suggested to you many times. But, it’s still a super fun way to get work done while enjoying the weather. Take out a picnic blanket, your favorite snacks and friends to sunbathe while you get some schoolwork done. This is definitely something you can do by yourself as well if you want to minimize distractions even more. Bonus points if you take your current read and get some vitamin D from the sun while indulging in an amazing book. Don’t forget your sunscreen!

Sunrise at the Tennis Courts

This is something I have been dying to give a try myself, but I am the laziest person on earth in the mornings. The tennis courts provide the perfect area to sit and watch the sunrise while chatting with your favorite gal pals. And if you stay up, you can clear the rest of the day to get some work done. Adding that additional couple of hours after having done a fun activity will allow you to get some pressing work done. And if that’s not what you’re looking for, head out to Westwood for an amazing breakfast at Noah’s Bagels.

Go for a Hike

With the amazing weather that still offers the perfect breeze, a hike is a perfect way to spend your mornings. This can be a soothing time to get away from school and focus your mind on a different activity. If you are feeling a bit drained or genuinely can’t look at coursework for another minute, take yourself outside for a little walk with amazing views. Sometimes all you need to get your focus back is to step away for a little bit and take time to do something you genuinely enjoy.

Spring Quarter is so close to the end of the year, and sometimes implementing a little fun into your everyday schedule is the perfect push to finish the quarter off strong. Being in Los Angeles, we have ideal weather to experience all things outdoors, so take some time to enjoy the things you love. Whether it be taking a weekend to explore the outdoors or maybe just using the dead time in between classes, allowing yourself some fun will be beneficial to your studying. You are almost there; you got this!
