Celebrate International Women’s Day With This Empowering Playlist

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

International Women’s Day is on March 8, 2023. It’s about celebrating all the accomplishments of women and how far they have come.

This year, their campaign theme is #EmbraceEquity. Their goal is to remind everyone that equality and equity are not exactly the same. Giving everyone an equal opportunity doesn’t necessarily mean it includes everyone; in fact, it can actually make someone feel excluded. Equity is about understanding that people come from different backgrounds, meaning that they may need additional resources to reach an equal outcome.

Sometimes people forget that having equal opportunities doesn’t grant someone immediate success. The world doesn’t work like that, which is what the campaign wants to make clear.

But not only do they want their audience to understand the reality of equality vs equity, they want them to join in on the celebration! Women shouldn’t just be celebrated for all their accomplishments in one day. Women should get celebrated every day, especially with everything they do.

I put together a playlist of 50 empowering songs to remind everyone of the power and beauty that women hold. I hope you all enjoy it and remember that you are all amazing! Be proud of every little accomplishment because they can become big in the long run!
