Best Deals Sites for UCLA Students!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

Yes, being in LA and having the city at your fingertips is exciting…until you run out of money. Many places in LA don’t have students in mind but luckily a lot of deal sites do! Recently, UCLA students were bombarded with flyers from CampusCred.com, a site set up like Groupon that give students discounts for Westwood hotspots, like Red Mango and Bibigo. DealQuad.com also gives UCLA students access to great deals on restaurants and services near campus. For those who are looking for a greater variety of deals in the Los Angeles area, there are plenty of options, but only a few are worth the amount of emails that you will receive daily when you subscribe. Check these sites out next time you are looking to eat and shop without taking out more loans:

Groupon: The classic deal site. From massages to bartender certification to Lasik eye surgery, Groupon has it all.

Living Social: Another favorite, this site has less deals than Groupon, but they are equally as discounted and Living Social also offers insane deals on vacation packages (summer shenanigans, anyone?)

DealPop: Whether you decide to buy the scuba diving lessons in Venice deal or get half off of pole dancing classes, or even just a pizza, this site has something for everyone.

PopSugar City: My personal favorite, this site features deals in five categories: Beauty, Culture, Food, Health and Style. Targeted towards fashionable, intelligent and fun young women (which I know you all are), these deals are perfect for Bruins.

Shop It To Me: Signing up for this takes more than just your email address, but the five extra minutes is well worth it. Input your sizes and favorites brands and designers and get daily emails with new sale items that match your specifications. Not only do you get alerted to sales, but subscribers also get deep discounts on new and fashionable pieces.

BlackBoard Eats: Perfect for a special date night, this service offers different discounts for gourmet restaurants. Hear about a restaurant thats been getting rave reviews but is a little out of your price range? Subscribe to “BBE” and wait for it to offer a deal!

Bloomspot: Like BlackBoard Eats, this site is targeted to a more expensive scene but still offers the chance for a special night out in LA. Being treated like the LA elite for half the price definitely isn’t a bad way to spend the day and the offers are as varied as the city itself.

Madeline Hunt is a senior at UCLA majoring in Communication Studies with a minor in Spanish. Originally from the laidback beach-town of Santa Barbara, the California native finds the fast-paced nature and eccentricity of LA extremely exciting. Once more, she decided to expand her horizons when she studied abroad this past fall in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Madeline wants to pursue a career in the entertainment industry and is considering broadcast journalism and public relations as potential options. On campus, she is currently the Public Relations & Marketing Director for the student- run organization Fashion and Student Trends and an intern at E! News. She served as an entertainment reporter on UCLA’s accredited student newspaper, The Daily Bruin, under the video division and is a current member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. During her free time, she enjoys playing tennis, exercising, going to the beach, shopping (online shopping will be the death of her!), reading Glamour and Cosmo, eating Mexican food and sushi, spending time with her friends, practicing her Spanish, and satisfying her weakness for caffeine with Starbuck’s lattes.
