UCF SGA Provides Fun and Relaxing Events For Finals Week

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

Finals week is probably the most stressful time of the year for a collegiette. Between the hours of studying1 and late night coffee binges, it becomes a bit overwhelming. Luckily, the Student Government Association at UCF has created events dedicated to relieving stress and helping students prepare for this dreadful week.

When I made my way to the second floor of the Student Union, I found that rooms normally reserved for meetings had been transformed into sanctuaries for fun and relaxation. Our SGA has been hard at work developing events that provide students with a way to prepare for exams and to help alleviate some of their anxieties that natural come with such an important time of the school year.

One of my favorite events was the “Relaxation Spa” hosted by Shekinah Fashaw, SGA’s academic affairs coordinator. When I entered this stress-free zone, I immediately felt my worries melt away. I was given a ticket for a massage, and directed to a table with complimentary snacks and smoothies. Shekinah and Funlola Falade (SGA Public Relations Coordinator) really made students feel welcome, as they greeted everyone with a smile and made sure all of their needs were fulfilled.

I learned that the two massage therapists for the event were from the Recreation and Wellness Center on campus. Basic Stress Relief Massages are offered at the RWC on campus for $40/hour for students. I really enjoyed this event, and nearly fell asleep during my therapeutic massage. It is clear that our SGA is taking care of the students at UCF. Check out the SGA Student Government Association Facebook page to stay updated with the latest events happening on campus.
