How I Post 13 Times a Week: 3 Tips for Content Creation

I post 13 times a week: three times on our chapter TikTok account, once on my YouTube account and nine times on my personal TikTok account. This has taught me quite a bit about creating content and how to make the process easier for myself. If you want to maintain your own account, here’s what I recommend:

Planning

This is arguably one of the most important aspects of content creation. Prep is what takes creating content from stressful and overwhelming to fun and exciting. There are two pieces of planning that have proven most helpful to me.

Keeping a calendar makes it really easy for me to visualize what’s going to get posted when. I personally like to have a monthly calendar. You can use whatever platform you like. I have a TikTok calendar and a YouTube calendar on my Notion app as well as a separate Google Sheet dedicated to Her Campus UCF TikTok content that includes its own monthly calendars.

The other part of this is planning the actual content. Most of the time I prepare an entire script for a video ahead of time, but not every video needs that and I’ll just write down the general idea. Sometimes, I’ll even prep the hashtags and captions I’ll use to make the posting process as simple as possible.

Paying Attention

Content creation, especially on TikTok, requires paying attention. Trends move fast and the sooner you can jump on them, the better. Scroll the platforms you want to post on and get an idea of what other people in your niche are posting or any trends you can fit into your brand.

Paying attention to your analytics also makes a huge difference in your ability to make necessary adjustments to better your content. Look at things like ideal posting times, relevant hashtags and even different types of content. If you post videos, what length tends to work best for your intended audience?

Batch Filming

Batch filming days may be my secret weapon to maintaining large amounts of content. At this point, if I’m wearing makeup, I’m filming that day. These are the days where planning becomes so vital. If I have enough videos planned out, I can film as many as I can before I lose the light with minimal work between each. Batch filming also gives me a lot more freedom to create content around other factors in my schedule so I don’t have to stress if I have a particularly busy week.

Creating content can be so fun and a great creative outlet, but it can also get overwhelming if you don’t have a system for maintaining all of it. These are the things I do to make content creation easier so I can keep it up.
