Emma Chamberlain is a name that’s very familiar among Gen Z. Whether they know her through her YouTube Channel, her immaculate taste in coffee or her unique style, Chamberlain has proven herself to be a fan favorite. Personally, I love everything about Chamberlain — she could literally punch me in the face and I’d thank her — but what I love most is her style. Every outfit she puts on is so unique and effortlessly amazing! She’s the blueprint for everything I want to wear for the rest of my life, so to honor her amazing taste, I decided to *attempt* to dress like her for a week — this is how it went.

The Basics

The first look I attempted was based on this photo of her from January 2019. Chamberlain is sporting a pink Y2K vibes shirt that says angel, and jeans with a white belt that has a heart in the center.

Attempting “The Basics”

Here’s my attempt. I’m wearing a shirt with similar vibes (but mine says “crybaby” — relatable), basic Walmart men’s jeans, and a clear belt that also has a heart in the center. I personally think it’s pretty similar, but it really feels incomplete without a cute puffer jacket. It’s Florida though, and sadly I don’t own one. I feel confident in giving myself a solid 7/10.

Argyle

Okay, when I was scrolling through Emma’s feed, I freaked out. This outfit is what sparked my idea for writing this article because I basically had everything she was wearing in this picture. I literally couldn’t contain my excitement.

Unfortunately, I had all the same stuff, but I don’t know if my head is ginormous or if it’s just the hat. I can’t pull off this look like my girl Emma can, but I’ll give myself a 6/10 for the outfit being so similar.

Tennis Skirt

This outfit is something I’m sure everyone has been flooded with lately (it’s always on TikTok). The trend is so cute and I’ve always wanted to wear something similar.

So, everything is there, and it should be working, but it’s not. A+ for effort, but she really could be better. It’s a 6/10.

Grandma’s Favorites

Chamberlain posted this in July —  I was absolutely obsessed then, and I still am now. Green is so her color.

Attempting “Grandma’s Favorites”

It’s the looking constipated for me! Not gonna lie though, I kinda vibe with this outfit. Everything is also from Goodwill, so *chef’s kiss* on that. 8/10.

Turtleneck

When this was posted my jaw dropped — she looked so snatched, and I am obsessed with everything about her.

Attempting “Turtleneck”

The vibes are definitely similar! I only had this plain grey turtleneck, which is definitely more of a neutral, basic look compared to Emma’s, but the vibes are pretty matched up after that. 9/10.

Graphic Tee & Plaid Skirt

This picture of Emma and her friend Olivia Rouyre is absolutely everything, and has me questioning why none of my photos with friends have ever turned out this aesthetically pleasing. But it’s fine, I’m fine.

My shirt is definitely not as vibey as hers, and while I raided my closet for this outfit I realized I own nothing with red in it! The skirt is pretty similar, so I’ll give myself that. I really wish I had some fun colored glasses to complete the look though — it would’ve been so much more up to par. 5/10. (I’m being generous okay, leave me alone.)

Stealing Grandpa’s Sweater

Sweater vests are so a trend I can get behind. Everyone who wears them looks so cuddly, and I’m here for it!

This outfit is definitely more of an overall vibe of Emma I tried to encompass, not a specific photo, but I entirely vibe with it. I think this is my favorite look I did because I wasn’t trying to copy one specific picture, but more so I was just trying to put my own spin on it. For that, I give myself a 10/10, because this is definitely the day I had the most fun taking pictures (I had an amazing latte and crepe right before this with my friend)!

Trying to resemble Chamberlain’s style was such a fun experience, and I ended up putting together outfits I would’ve never even thought about without trying to remake her photos! I stand by my statement that she could punch me in the face and I’d say thank you, but hopefully, she’d at least vibe with my outfit beforehand.
