Campus Celeb: Abigail Marsh

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

It is my absolute pleasure to introduce this week’s Campus Celeb, Abigail Marsh. Abigail is the president of the Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority here at UCF, but she offers so much more than just her presidency! Abigail is one of those people who create such a positive presence in every room that she walks into. She is kind, generous, and just as beautiful on the outside as she is on the inside. Abigail is committed to herself, her sorority, her friends, her family, and her future. Her ambition and drive is prominent and she absolutely deserves the title as Campus Celeb!

Her Campus UCF (HCUCF): What is your year and major?

Abigail Marsh (AM): I am a Senior, and I am an event management major at the Rosen College of hospitality.

HCUCF: Where is your hometown?

AM: I am from Ormond Beach Florida, which is north of hear- near Daytona Beach. Well, I’m from Chicago originally, a city called Barrington which is outside of Chicago. I Moved to Ormond Beach in 5th grade. My mom’s job transferred her down here.

HCUCF: Tell me a little bit about your involvement at UCF.

AM: I got here Summer B 2012 and then went through formal recruitment right away. That was my first way of getting involved. My brother was in Greek Life here and I knew I wanted to be in a sorority and for it to be my main involvement. From there I got really involved in Alpha Delta Pi and I knew from the beginning that I wanted a leadership position. I’ve also gotten involved in a couple of organizations within my major.

HCUCF: If you were a punctuation mark, which one would you be and why?

AM: That’s so hard! I feel like I would like to say an exclamation point because I am a very positive person, but then I feel like I am very direct and thought out, so I would say a period too!

HCUCF: What is your best college memory?

AM: My two brothers also went to UCF. They are 23 and 25. One was in Greek life and one wasn’t. Although Alpha Delta Pi has given me so much, I’ve loved having them so close and my brother is still here in grad school so I still see them a lot! At first I didn’t want to go to UCF because I didn’t just want to be with my two brothers but I think now it shaped our relationship since we’ve all been in college together, so when I think about college memories I definitely think about them.

HCUCF: Describe yourself in three words.

AM: Positive, supportive, compassionate

HCUCF: What is your favorite part about being president of Alpha Delta Pi?

AM: Oh goodness, there’s so much! I really like being available and that people ask questions and I hope can find the answer for them. I just really love the position of being a resource to everyone and being an example for everyone. I think that’s the most important part. And just offering how much I’ve learned and loved about everything I’ve been through in my journey as a freshman to a senior and instilling that onto new members and anyone younger than me.

HCUCF: Who are your celebrity crushes?

AM: Jennifer Aniston and Ryan Reynolds

HCUCF: What are your three favorite shows or movies to watch on Netflix?

AM: Friends for sure, I can watch that forever, Gossip Girl, and kind of weird, but the first movie that comes to mind is A Winters Tale, that’s like an all time favorite of mine.

HCUCF: What is your greatest accomplishment?

AM: I would have to say presidency of Alpha Delta Pi, thus far.

HCUCF: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

AM: Well, because I am event management, I hope to pursue that as a career, so I’ve done various different things in the industry so far. I’m currently doing wedding planning in Orlando, but I’ve worked in Chicago over the summer. I hope to be in Chicago and I’ve thought about working for non-profits or something more in the entertainment field, like fashion shows or something like that. I would see myself working with a venue or an organization that is more event based.

HCUCF: What is your dream guy like?

AM: A gentleman, very family-oriented, funny, driven, and a good cook!

HCUCF: Who do you look up to the most?

AM: My mom, for sure. She has been a single mom for mine, and both of my brothers’ whole life so she is just the epitome of a role model.

HCUCF: What do you want to be remembered for?

AM: From Alpha Delta Pi, it would be that I was open to suggestion or that I just made a difference in any way that I could, and put the chapter first.

HCUCF: Where is your dream vacation?

AM: Probably Barcelona, Spain. All of the places I thought of I just believed Barcelona would be so different and interesting. I’ve never been to Europe, either and it just so rich in culture and would be so exciting.

HCUCF: What are some things on your bucket list that you have yet to cross off?

AM: I think I’ve been too scared, but maybe Skydiving, and I think just to travel to places that I’ve never thought to go,

HCUCF: What advice would you give to younger students?

AM: I think the biggest thing in college is to get involved and I know that is super cliché, but the smallest thing that you think you might be interested in can lead you in a million different directions. I think that’s really important to kind of hone in on where you think you will excel best and from there you meet so many people and go in so many different directions it could be completely opposite from your first step. And I think pursuing leadership in all aspects is very important and development in your time in college.

I'm a born and raised New Yorker and sophomore at the beautiful UCF. I believe that all you need is bacon and a smile to be happy.
