5 Things You Should Do While Listening to “Red (Taylor’s Version)”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

After months of anticipation, Taylor Swift has finally released Red (Taylor’s Version), and I truly couldn’t be happier. Anyone who knows me knows that Red is one of my all-time favorite albums, so having Taylor’s Version, along with songs from the vault, is a dream come true. From “State of Grace” to “I Almost Do,” here are five things you need to do while listening to Red (Taylor’s Version).

Get Cozy

Everyone knows that Red is a fall album, and Taylor’s Version is no different. I may be in the suffocating Florida humidity, but you better believe I’ll be pretending the leaves are changing color. Whether you’re stuck in the heat or bundled up completely, grab a cup of chai tea and a scarf (if you know, you know), and get ready to get in your feels.

Block your ex

It wouldn’t be true to Red if I didn’t say this: it’s time to block them. And trust me, I say this for several reasons. If a name already came into your head when I said ex, well, there’s your answer. By pressing that block button, you’re making Taylor proud. Now, not only can you have peace of mind in knowing that they can’t interrupt your listening, but you can choose the more ‘method’ version of listening and live through the album. This is Taylor’s time, not theirs.

drive with the windows down

It’s time to act like you’re driving a Maserati down a dead-end street because everyone knows that Red is the perfect driving album. If you plan on driving with me anytime soon, just know that this will be the only approved soundtrack. Whether you’re heading to Starbucks to grab Taylor’s favorite latte or on a fall road trip, Red (Taylor’s Version) is over two hours of pure magic.

Treat yourself

Red may be the ultimate heartbreak album, but that doesn’t mean we can’t simultaneously take care of ourselves. Moving on means putting yourself first — and Miss Swift would want us to do just that. Whether it’s that sweater (or cardigan) you’ve been eyeing all season, or maybe one of Taylor’s new merch items, you deserve it.

Soak in Every Second of All Too Well

Anyone who knows me knows this was coming. 10 minutes of “All Too Well.” Dance around the kitchen in that refrigerator light and prepare yourself for the lyrical masterpiece that you’re hearing. If you’ve been around for a while, you know this has been a long time coming, even if we thought the day would never arrive. To be honest, I may never recover from it.

I hope that you’re able to listen to Red (Taylor’s Version) while enjoying some (or all) of these previously mentioned activities. But, even if you don’t, enjoy every last heartbreaking and magical minute, as we wait for the next album to come.
