5 Foods to Boost Your Sex Drive

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

Food is delicious to eat, can be fun to make, and even more exciting to play with.  Some of you may have had your fair share of food fights, or romantic evenings involving whip cream, but whatever your preference, food can be taken from satisfying your hunger to satisfying your sexual desires.  Most people have heard of the aphrodisiac foods that can boost a man’s libido, or increase a woman’s ability to reach orgasm.  Either way, both men and women can benefit from eating foods that contain specific vitamins and minerals that will make the romantic dinner date end with an even more romantic, and pleasure filled, evening.

A lot of surprising foods are said to contain these tantalizing contents.  Take a look at this list of foods that you may want to start eating more often with your boy toy.

Asparagus– Yes it makes your pee smell horrid, but it is delicious, healthy and helps you and your man reach orgasm!  Asparagus has been said to “stir up lust in men and women.”  These green stalks are a great source of potassium, vitamin B6, fiber, folic acid, and vitamins A and C.  This combination of ingredients is said to boost histamine production necessary for the ability of both sexes to reach an orgasm.  So have a nice helping of grilled asparagus with your steak dinner, and your night will surely end well.

Bananas– The shape of this yummy fruit is obvious to why it is connected with sexuality, but there is more to it.  Bananas are loaded with potassium, magnesium and B vitamins.  It also contains minerals and enzymes that are said to enhance the male libido.  So go buy your man some bananas!

Oysters-This is probably the one food most of you have heard as the “aphrodisiac food,” and its reputation for increasing sexual desire. Oysters high zinc content helps produce sperm and increase male libido.  Maybe once you have graduated, landed that dream job, and are ready to start a family with your man, plan a romantic dinner with raw oysters and a glass of champagne!

Honey-If you like to spread honey on your toast in the morning, you might want to save some for lunch and dinner too.  Sweet, sticky honey is a great source of boron, which is a mineral that helps the body use and metabolize estrogen, the female sex hormone. This mineral may also enhance testosterone levels in the blood, the hormone responsible for promoting sex drive and orgasm in both men and women.

Chocolate– Chocolate is the king and queen of natural aphrodisiacs.  Pure chocolate contains an array of contents including anandamide, the “feel-good” chemical, and phenylethylamine (PEA), the “love” chemical.  These chemicals release dopamine in the pleasure centers of the brain and peaks during orgasm. PEA is also said to help induce feelings of excitement, attraction, and euphoria.  Dark, white, milk, melted or cold, you really can’t go wrong with chocolate!

If you’re not an oyster lover, no worries, you now know of four other foods to enhance your sex life!  Next time you stay at home with your beau, maybe do some grocery shopping ahead of time and stock up on these delicious, nutritious, seductive foods!
