4 Resources at UCF to Help You Ace Your Finals

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

Finals are just around the corner, which means it’s time to start studying for them. Luckily, UCF has plenty of resources to help you prepare. Here are four resources at UCF to help you ace your finals.

Study union

Every semester around finals, the Student Academic Resource Center organizes Study Union inside the student union, and this semester is no exception. Study Union provides several review sessions for a wide variety of undergraduate subjects and courses led by a knowledgeable reviewer. From biology to business, there’s sure to be a review session covering a class you are taking. This semester study union will be offered in a hybrid format consisting of both zoom and in-person meetings so that you can attend online if you can’t make it on campus or don’t yet feel comfortable attending in person. More information on Study Union and the review schedule can be found here.

University Writing Center

The university writing center is another great resource, especially if you’re a writing major or are taking writing classes this semester. They offer a number of helpful resources online including information on citation styles, common assignments across disciplines, planning and organizing, and grammar and punctuation. Reviewing this information can be of immense help when writing your final paper. They also offer both in-person and online writing consultations where a reviewer looks over your paper and makes suggestions for improvement based on the assignment and general writing guidelines. Talking through your paper with a reviewer can work wonders, and appointments for consultations can be made here.

Student academic resource center

The Student Academic Resource Center provides various services and resources to help students study and prepare for exams. They offer group and one-on-one peer tutoring, which can be helpful to brush up on topics you don’t understand in preparation for your final exam. Group tutoring is available online and at UCF’s main and downtown campuses, while one-on-one peer tutoring is available exclusively online. More information on peer tutoring and their tutoring schedule can be found here. They also offer a variety of learning skills resources such as study skills and test preparation, time management, textbook reading and notetaking, which are available here.

John C. Hitt Library

Though likely an obvious resource, the library is essential to help you prepare for your finals and should be included on any list to help you ace them. It’s a great place to study because it’s free of distractions and will help you concentrate on your material, especially if you study on the top floor where it is most quiet or book a study room. The library also has course materials including textbooks and other items on reserve for specific courses which can be highly beneficial to review particularly if you didn’t buy a recommended or required textbook or are unsure about some of the material.

As finals week quickly approaches, you should check out these resources at UCF to prepare. Each resource can be of immense help in acing your finals. Find what helps you most and best of luck on your exams!
