This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

asked fellow UCF collegiettes why they think people should follow their dreams. Each had something meaningful to say that would inspire any of us to persevere. Their responses will be shared on our Instagram: @hercampusucf.

When people decide to follow a different path, doubt eventually clouds their judgment. It was difficult to finally declare a major that reflected your interests and intended career path and doing so does not have to keep you from living the life you imagined.

You will always wonder.

Even if your initial dream does not work out in the end and morphs into something else, you will treasure the experience. You will always know what it was like and why this path was not the best choice for you. Going after your dream will lead to closure that many others do not have.

“Reach high, for stars lie hidden in your soul. Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal.” (Pamela Vaull Starr)

You will be doing what makes you happy.

A part of living a fulfilling life means getting up out of bed looking forward to your day, not dreading the sound of your alarm to delay going to work.

“I’m not going to tell you it is going to be easy, I’m telling you it’s going to be worth it.” (Art Williams)

Timing and chance.

Many professionals that I have come across have told me that perseverance is key. The moment you give up can be immediately before the career you wanted becomes available.

“The dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.” (Wizard of Oz)

Not allowing fear to control your life.

I hope that every morning, you don’t wake up with anxiety because you expect to bad things to occur. While precious, life is also short. With the limited time we have, it should be important to live for yourself and not an emotion ruled by expectations based on others.

“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less travelled, and that has made all the difference.” (Robert Frost)

For the trials that come along the way to test your determination, the quotes above must be found on your wall, hung on your door, and written in your mirror.
