Spring is officially here, which means it’s time for a wardrobe change! We’ve finally made it to the season of pastels, sundresses and florals, and I couldn’t be happier. Navigating a season change can always be a little challenging, so here are my top 10 closet staples to help transition from winter to spring fashion.

White sneakers

If you buy one thing because of this list, Id suggest you go for this one. A trusty pair of white sneakers can be a lifesaver, no matter which ones you pick. They go with anything, and can easily be dressed up or down a bit depending on what you wear with them. My favorites would have to be Nike Air Jordan 1 Lows, or Superga 2790 Acotw Platform Sneakers (A favorite of Ariana Grande’s), but you could also go for white Keds, Converse All-Stars, or the incredibly popular (but a little overrated in my opinion) Nike Air Force 1s.

a favorite pair of jeans

This one could easily be debated considering we live in Florida, but I still swear that everyone needs one perfect pair of jeans for every season. I know finding jeans that fit just right is incredibly hard, but once you find them, you’ll never stop wearing them. No matter if they’re skinny jeans, mom jeans or bootcut, a good pair of jeans is non-negotiable. I got my favorite pair of Lee Mom Jeans from a little vintage store in the Milk District called Etoile Boutique, so don’t be afraid to look at stores besides American Eagle and ZARA for a new pair of go-to’s.

a jumpsuit

As someone a bit taller than average, I can confirm: it’s a little hard to find a jumpsuit thats the perfect length and perfect fit. But, I think the search is completely worth it. Jumpsuits are so versatile when it comes to dressing them up or down, are usually super comfortable, and not to mention very cute! My personal favorite is from T.J. Maxx circa 2019, but Cider has some adorable ones for really good prices.

hair accessories

Hair accessories are probably my favorite part of any outfit ever. Theyre such an easy way to tie colors or patterns in an outfit together, and can easily elevate anything. Whether you prefer headbands (my go-to always), a hat, cute hair clips or hair scarves, you honestly can’t go wrong. Francesca’s always has some good options, even if they can sometimes be a little pricey.

neutral-colored purses

I know tote bags are all the rage right now, but Ill never stop wearing purses. Purses are another easy way to accessorize an outfit, not to mention they are fully functional! I suggest having at least a black and a white purse, but you can’t go wrong with also having some colorful ones in your favorite color. A classic Coach or Kate Spade is always nice, but make sure to check out. T. J. Maxx for some cute bargains on a designer bag.

statement jacket

Another debatable staple for Floridians, but sometimes fashion is worth a little extra heat. Cute, colorful jackets are perfect for bringing out colors in another piece of your outfit, or even for a monochrome look. I’m wearing my favorite pastel yellow denim jacket as I write this article (another designer find from T.J. Maxx), but I’ve seen some statement jackets in almost every clothing store imaginable.

cute but comfortable sandals

This is a need for anyone who lives in a state with a warm spring and summer. Sandals are the embodiment of sunny days, and there is a wide assortment available for every taste. I still haven’t gotten over the platform sandal trend in 2019, but you can find a reliable pair of sandals from pretty much anywhere, such as Target or PacSun.

an assortment of basic tops

I know Pinterest is full of pastels and bold patterns right now, but don’t forget about basic articles of clothing that give you a truly blank canvas. Cute but neutral-colored tops and bottoms, such as black crop tops and white skirts give you a lot of freedom to mix and match, and are essential when trying to make old outfits look like brand new ones. ZARA and Aritza have some great options, but I prefer Target or T. J. Maxx.

fun PANTS

I’m a sucker for patterns, and the patterned pants trend is one of my favorite ways of displaying patterns. From zebra print to retro swirls, fun pants are the perfect way to spice up any outfit, and all you need to wear with them is a simple top that matches the pants perfectly. Not to mention, you can easily dress them up depending on the top and shoes.

FUN SOCKS

Socks aren’t always a visible part of every outfit, but I like to think if they are, they should be as cute as possible. My favorite pair of socks are definitely the tulle ruffle ones (just like the socks we wore as little girls on church Sundays), but you can never go wrong with socks with a fun color or pattern from Amazon or Target.

Fashion is very subjective, so you should always wear whatever you feel most comfortable in. But, if you need any suggestions for how to transition your closet from winter to spring, I hope this helps!
