5 UC Davis Events To Spice Up Your Valentine’s Week

The week of love, romance and such themed events is upon us. Here are some of the heart-filled festivities coming to UC Davis this Valentine’s week:

1. The Aggie Reuse Store’s ‘Spread The Love’ Campaign

From February 8th to the 12th at the CoHo, our beloved Aggie Reuse Store will be hosting a campaign to spread “positive vibes” around campus and make sure everyone knows they’re loved. The campaign consists of interactive “I love you because…” canvases, giveaways, prizes and more. Like the event on Facebook for more details and updates!

2. The Film Fest Valentine’s Dance

February 12th marks the day of the Davis Film Festival’s Valentine’s Dance at the Third Space Art Collective! This event will feature a photo booth, caricatures, dancing and more! You can even prepare written grams for your special someone that they’ll display on the wall! Tickets start at $5, for more information like the FB event or visit their table at the MU.

3. MeChA’s Valentine’s/Marriage Booth

Put a ring on it February 11th and 12th at MeChA’s Valentine’s/Marriage Booth! The booth will be out on the MU and will offer a variety of marriage packages starting from a $1 certificate, to a $5 bundle with certificate, Ring Pop and a photo! You can marry whoever or whatever you want, and all proceeds will go to MeChA’s 22nd Annual Raza Youth Empowerment Conference. For more information, find the event on Facebook.

4. Black Family Week’s Zumba Night

Thursday, Feburary 11, from 7 to 9pm, Black Family Week is hosting: Zumba Presented by Imani Clinic. The event will take place in Meeting Room D of the SCC, and is open to everyone! Whether you’re single or in a relationship there’s no reason you shouldn’t come on down and dance Zumba with the Black community on campus this Valentine’s week!

 

5. The Gender and Sexuality Commission’s Sex Jeopardy

Think you know a thing or two about sex? ASUCD’s Gender and Sexuality Commission is hosting Sex Jeopardy on February 11th from 4-5pm in Meeting Room C in the SCC. Test your knowledge on sexual health, contraceptives, STI’s and more to ensure you and your partner have a safe, healthy Valentine’s Day.

Ariel Robbins is a third-year Technocultural Studies major with a minor in Professional Writing at UC Davis. Her dreams consist of attending graduate school for screenwriting or visual journalism, and one day taking a picture with Steve Buscemi.
