Thinking about the end of the year, it’s hard to come to terms with the fact that it’s almost over. In fact, it’s even harder to believe that it’s the end of the decade. It’s been one hell of a journey, and you should be proud of yourself for sticking it out.

Even if maybe it didn’t start out too great. Maybe in the beginning, you were still trying to figure out a life for yourself. Maybe you still hadn’t built up the courage to ask the person that you liked out on a proper date. Maybe you were still taking advice from toxic friends who didn’t even deserve to be in the same room as you to begin with.

And maybe it took you the entire decade to figure that out. You know what? — Who cares?

There is no right or wrong way to live. And because of that, everybody makes different choices that take them on different paths. You’ll live your life on your own terms, and that’s what matters most.

Because sometimes, life doesn’t give you the greatest lemons. And your lemonade turned out to be a little bitter. Sometimes, you’re raised in the slums and you make due with what you got. You find yourself a small apartment, it might even be a shitty one at that, but guess what? At least you got one. You found a home for you, a place to call your very own. And sometimes, that means that the people you thought had been rooting for you for 6 years on end don’t even stop by for a house-warming.

And that shit hurts. But truth is, that’s life. Some people are gonna have it better than you, from the jump. That’s just the way it goes. And that doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing 100% of the time. Sometimes, it breeds character. Sometimes, it breeds potential. Sometimes, it breeds a champion whose destiny is meant to beat all the odds. Sometimes, it means that you know that when the chances are stacked against you, it’s time to come out swinging.

You were bred to eat lightning and crap thunder. And yeah, maybe sometimes that makes us dangerous people. But it also gets us ready for the real world. A place that’s gonna have no remorse on us. Sometimes, the greatest challenge is waking up to go another day – to continue going the distance. Because life isn’t gonna look at you and suddenly decide that you’re too pretty to bother today. It’s going to push you. Over and over again. Repeatedly and excessively. And when that time comes, you have to be ready to push back.

So, own your stuff! And run into the new year with the Rocky Balboa theme song playing behind you. This is your year, baby. Go and get it.
