7 Winter Trends To Try!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Riverside chapter.

Whether this winter brings you rain, snow, wind, or all of the above, there is no reason why we should not look our very best, (and stay warm at the same time), this season. Although it is the season where many us like like to “bum-it,” with Victoria Secret sweatpants, Ugg boots, a hoodie, pony tail or messy bun, I say save those for when we are lounging around at home, (or maybe even for finals week), and  brave the cold in utter sexiness instead.

So ladies, it is time to bust out those jackets, boots, sweaters, scarfs, and gloves. Layer-it up!

For more winter inspiration, try out these 7 top winter trends to spice up any outfit of yours.

Sparkle & Shine

  • Sequins, glitter, and shimmery accessories and clothing all evoke images of a very glamorous winter wonderland. The best way to rock this trend is wearing ONE piece of excessive shine. Some great pieces to try out are scarves, leggings, flats, heels, dresses and sweaters. Some great places that always seem to have excessive sparkle and shine in their fashion collections are Forever21 and Express

Dark and Dreamy Nail Polish

  • Wear rich and dark colors such as deep shades of purple, red, and brown this winter to show off your strong, secretive, and seductive feminine side. They are dangerously chic. Check out Revlon’s and OPI’s newest colors.

  • Neutrals such as creams, soft pinks, and pearl whites are classic, elegant colors that bring out the sugarplum sweetness in all women who wear them.

Leg Warmers

  • Spice up your outfit with a pair of cozy leg warmers. You can also make your own from an old sweater! Best way to rock this trend:

Leg warmers tucked into your mid-calf boot.

Leg warmers matching the color of your top.

Also, long socks pulled up over your combat boots works too.

Fingerless Knit Gloves

  • The best thing about fingerless knit gloves is that you have the ability to text (no fuzzy fingers that can’t feel the screen or keyboard) and have warm hands too. This trend looks super chic and playful when you match your gloves with a same color beanie or beret!

  • This rose gold/pinkish-gold variation is most notable in Michael Kors collection of watches.

The Beret

  • Add a little French couture to your outfit with a beret. Pair your beret with a peacoat and Oh La La can you say fabulous? Or Rachel Berry?
