Disneyland: Holiday Edition

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Irvine chapter.

It’s that time of the year again! Holiday season is definitely my favorite season of year. Why? Everything gets turned into a winter wonderland, with trees, ornaments, gingerbread houses, lights, and music. One of the best places to experience all of this is definitely Disneyland, the happiest place on Earth. I was able to go for a short while on December 2nd to experience this season’s cheerful spirit.

Before entering the park, there were already visible changes from Halloween to the Holiday season. The place is absolutely beautiful. Holiday lights hung from lampposts and circled around buildings; fake snow sat on top of buildings including Sleeping Beauty’s Castle; and a huge Christmas tree stood majestically at the entrance of Main Street USA.

One of the most creative, and my personal favorite, of Disneyland’s transformation is, without a doubt, the Small World ride. The outside entrance and backdrop is decked with splashes of colorful lights. Every few minutes or so, the lights turn off and a holiday light show plays. Yay for entertainment while waiting in line! The inside was even better. Not only are characters ‘winter-ed up’, but the classical Small World song had it’s own Christmas rendition. The song is intertwined with winter songs, making the holiday mood that much cheerier. Very clever, I must say.

Despite the short visit, it was a very successful and merry night. It’s a good break from studying for those with passes and definitely a great idea to go after finals to experience the season’s jolly spirit!
