Now I know it’s February, but I’m gonna take a shot at predicting this year’s fashion trends, and let me say I’m excited about all of them. It’s going to be a fun year of bringing back old favorites and reinventing our usual day-to-day style to fit the molds of the ever progressing fashion trends.
Leopard Print
I truly never thought I’d say this because I was always an animal print critic, but I’m excited to see these patterns, specifically leopard print, come back in full swing. You can totally manifest your big city New York girl fantasy by prancing around campus in a fun but warm and fuzzy leopard print jacket. Everything from a cute pair of leopard print jeans to a statement jacket is gonna be everywhere. Throwing on a statement piece patterned like that is such an easy and casual way to dress up an outfit without even trying. Leopard print just makes you THAT girl.
Sequins
Here I am again bringing up another style I had previously avoided like the plague. Now sequins can go wrong fast, but if you style it right it can look so fun and cute. Right now, a sequined skirt is the perfect going out look. I’ve seen lots of dresses and cute shirts going around that are also a fun party vibe. I can see this trend going bad quite fast, but for right now I think it’s important to have one or two pieces of sequined-out clothing in your closet.
Skirts, Skirts, Skirts
I’ve been wearing skirts since forever, but I predict they’ll come back extra strong this year. I love a long denim skirt to wear to class and a shorter one for the transition into night. A flowy, long skirt is always one to have on hand, as it’s such a fun and comfortable way to rock a skirt. And there’s nothing more flattering than a low waisted one. I’ve invested in a short leather mini skirt, and it may be my most worn piece in my wardrobe. If you didn’t know, mini skirts are all the rage for going out because duh — your legs are the accessory.
Business Casual
What I’m most excited about is seeing everyone decked out in their business casual attire. My go-to look for years has been throwing on a mens oversized button up with jeans and sneakers. The key to this look is only buttoning one button in the middle, and you have the cutest and easiest business casual look ever. Everything from wearing an oversized suit jacket to styling suit pants casually with a tank is such a cute look. You’re put together, but never overdressed.
Statement Pants
Lately, I’ve been wearing these statement tops with a basic pair of jeans. However, I predict this year we’ll be switching that around. 2024 is going to be the year of statement jeans with a basic top. Whether it’s patterned jeans or ones with fun detailing, it’ll be so fresh to see this new trend develop.
This is going to be a fun year for fashion, but they always are. Who knows with time how we’ll look back on some of these trends I’ve talked about today. But for right now, I can confidently say you can’t go wrong with piecing together a look with any of these 2024 trends.
