JOJO SIWA AND AVERY CYRUS CONFIRM DATING RUMORS WITH CHEESY TIKTOK

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Berkeley chapter.

Even if you aren’t as deep into the rabbit hole that is lesbian TikTok drama as some of us may be, you might have heard about the wave of breakups that took out even some of TikTok’s most popular LGBTQ couples. There has since been a flurry of comments questioning the existence of love and countless conspiracy theories attempting to explain the phenomenon. Among these shocking (or not so shocking, depending on who you ask) breakups were Avery Cyrus and Soph Mosca, two of TikTok’s top LGBTQ creators.

Although plans to purchase a house together and the celebration of their second anniversary this summer led fans to believe the pair were going strong, Cyrus and Mosca shared news of their split via their respective Instagram stories in early August. Neither shared the reason for going their separate ways, but fans were quick to jump in with their speculations, namely the rumor that Cyrus was involved with former Dance Moms star, singer, and YouTuber JoJo Siwa.

Cyrus and Siwa- who also split with girlfriend Kylie Prew this past summer- sparked dating rumors after posting multiple TikToks together, including a dance video in a hotel room, where fans were quick to spot that only one bed appeared to have been slept in. Soon after, Siwa posted a TikTok that seemed to confirm the rumors. The text of the video reads, “POV: me when I found @kales_0,” as Siwa laughs and scrolls on her phone. kales_0 is the TikTok creator behind most of the videos seeking to determine the nature of Siwa and Cyrus’ relationship. In the background, the audio asks, “Wait, is this f****ing play about us?”

As Cyrus matter-of-factly states in her cheeky comment, “yes, it is about us.” If there were any doubts about the budding romance between the two TikTok creators, Cyrus made things pretty clear with a recent video showing her journey to visit Siwa after receiving a text that she was sick and in need of a hug. The video ends with the pair sharing an intimate hug, leaving little room for speculation that Cyrus and Siwa are simply besties.

Of course, fans have reacted with an outpouring of sympathy for Cyrus’ ex, Soph Mosca. There are several supportive comments on her videos- and a few dissing her ex (@marnifallon- “I’m sorry Avery who??”). But, Mosca may have a new romance of her own. Flirty comments are beginning to appear on her TikTok from another fellow recently heartbroken creator, Alissa Butt

However, all is not lost for Mosca and Cyrus, at least as friends. The two recently posted a video clarifying that they don’t hate each other. So, while it may be the end of an era for longtime fans of the pair, perhaps it will at least be marked by a graceful and respectful parting. And if not, the theorists of TikTok will be sure to let you know.
