I wouldn’t technically say influencers and their popularity is dying out, but the rise of influencers are rare these days. Every year, there’s a new popular influencer who rises to fame overnight, whether from TikTok, YouTube, or Instagram. This year it feels as if there’s no breakout stars on the come up.

In 2020 on TikTok, we had people like Charli D’amelio, the different houses of influencers, and the challenges. Now it seems like people couldn’t be bothered with social media anymore. It seems like people have an even shorter attention span than they did in 2020.

I think this could be because we were in quarantine for so long, doing nothing but watching short videos on an app for entertainment. However, people don’t watch YouTube videos as a whole anymore, they’re not “fans” of influencers anymore, and are rarely worried about their drama.

Is Influencer culture dying? Or do people just not have the attention span to focus on them anymore? Luckily for the influencers who have had their come up, they won’t be going anywhere anytime soon because they have solidified their place. However, for the people who want to become influencers? It’s highly unlikely that their come-ups will be as big as the ones for influencers during 2020.
