BOOKS THAT WILL MAKE YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH READING AGAIN

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Berkeley chapter.

For me, reading is a hobby that I fall in and out of love with. There is something so magical about submerging myself in a book that it makes me forget about everything I have to do. Reading is what I would say is ‘timeless love.’ I will always come back.

For those who want something light and timeless, there is The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. This book is a classic and one that everyone should read at least once in their life. The book touches on imagination and the process of growing up. The book touches on various life lessons concerning love, compassion, and companionship. This is also a great read for any generation.

For those who want something magical, dark, and are a Potterhead (or want something similar to it) there is the series Deadly Education by Naomi Novik. The author Novik combines the “magical” elements of Harry Potter with the “deadly games with children” elements of The Hunger Games and it works. This has a darker feel and is a book for those looking for a strong and courageous heroine.

For those who want something romantic, lighthearted, and LGBTQIA+ centered there is Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. The protagonists of the novels are the son of the President of the United States and a British prince. They hate each other in the beginning but fate keeps pushing them together. This book features the enemies to friends to lovers trope and the relationships they establish are alluring, which is sure to keep any reader turning the pages. Overall the characters are lovable from the beginning.
