Julia Andrade and I met just days before our freshman year. We found each other on a roommate pairing app and started texting because we had so much in common… Well aside from living in different countries. Julia was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and I was born in Atlanta, Georgia so our upbringings were completely different but the more we talked (whether on Facebook messenger or FaceTime) the more we realized that we both had a passion for clothes, music, friends, family, and so much more. Throughout the months that led up to our freshman year, we would send each other pictures of our OOTD and it became kind of a tradition to send each other what we were wearing when we went out or just felt good about the way we looked. Although we were thousands of miles apart, fashion, style, or whatever you want to call it, made us feel much closer. After we became roommates, it was only natural that we would shop together, borrow clothes from each other, and choose outfits for one another on a daily basis. We realized that people started to know us as the two girls who dressed up to go to class and laughed about it for a while before deciding that we could do something with it. We decided that we wanted to create a fashion-focused Instagram account that highlighted men and women on campus who dressed up to go to class as well as give the two of us an outlet to share our style. Our main goal was to empower UAB students and create an atmosphere on campus where no one felt afraid to look cute and express themselves and we both are extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished.
