Make 2018 Your Most Successful Year Ever!!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UAB chapter.

Every year, we are bombarded with the “New Year, New You” posts and statuses. But what happens when you actually want to be more successful in this upcoming year? What can you do about it?

As college students, it can be extremely overwhelming when you try to figure out how to be successful. Being an adult is hard. Being a college student is hard. But there are many different ways that you can conquer this year to make it the best year yet!

1. Trust your gut.

Sometimes, things may seem to not be quite right. Believe yourself! Make a change! If you feel uncomfortable or if you want things to be different, the only thing stopping it from being different is YOU! You are in total control of your life and your destiny.

2. Get your moolah in order.

Yeah, I said it. Get your monies in order. It’s hard, and especially being a broke college student, it’s hard to get any sort of monies in general. Make a budget, find ways to save, and start to invest in yourself by having an emergency fund and by not always spending your money as soon as you make it. Trust me, when you graduate college and have your first real job, you’ll thank me for this advice. And part of success is making the right decisions in every aspect of your life — from finances to spirituality.

3. Get rid of those toxic friendships.

Whether it’s a friend or a significant other, 2018 is the year to get rid of those people who are not adding to your life. If you feel run-down, sad, or exhausted after being around someone, or if they are just causing undue stress in your life, it’s okay to say goodbye. In order to have YOUR best year, it could be that you need to get rid of those people who are bringing you down. There’s nothing wrong with it. Trust me.

4. Take time for yourself — invest in yourself.

This may be one of the most important steps to making 2018 your year –> invest in yourself! This means reading books on personal development, taking classes that interest you, and trying new things that scared you before! Even after you’ve gotten yourself together monetary wise, you’ll never really have a successful year until you develop yourself as a person. Take a break from the romances and pick up the personal development books!

5. Make yourself a priority.

Do what makes you happy! This is the easiest way to make any year a successful one. When you invest in yourself, and make the time to do the things you love, you will be successful! When you put good vibes out there, you attract more good things towards you. Everything you want is within your grasp — you just have to reach for it. And by doing what makes you happy, you’ll have more energy to focus on the areas of your life that need the work.

Good luck in 2018!!
