Batman v Superman Review

Finally, the biggest movie of this year has officially come out in theaters. Even though everyone seems to be talking about it, the reviews have not been  positive. Batman v Superman is sitting at a 29% on Rotten Tomatoes which we all know is not a great score. But even though the critics seem to hate this movie, regular movie goers seem to enjoy Batman v Superman. The divide how of this movie has gotten a lot of buzz and a lot of people debating whether it is amazingly good or terribly bad. Now, I have seen the movie and I am here to give you my opinion on what I think about the movie. I believe Batman v Superman is just okay. It is not awful or is it great the movie is just okay.

The movie has got a lot of issues, especially in its first half. The movie starts off extremely slow with the movie jumping from scene to scene. It gets confusing because the pacing of the movie is off balanced you  do not know what is going on. Jesse Eisenberg, known for his role in The Social Network, plays the menacing villain Lex Luthor and the performance is really overwhelming and can get cartoonish at times. Another problem that I have with the movie is that its tone is boring and lifeless meaning that the movie is not  fun. The last problem that I have with the movie is that it really is not a coherent movie. The plot is all over the place and the character development is weak in the movie. Also,  this one part of the movie that will confuse the hell out you, because it surely confused me.

Now that I got what I dislike about the movie out of the way here is what I thought was great about. First, if you do not care about Batman or Superman you should definitely go see Wonder Woman played by the amazing Gal Gadot. Wonder Woman is badass and even though she is not in the movie a lot she definitely makes her mark in the movie. Another great performance is Ben Affleck, who plays Batman/Bruce Wayne. Ben Affleck, when he was first cast as Batman, got media hate from comic book fans saying he was not fit to play Batman. Ben Affleck proves the haters wrong because he is a fantastic Batman, and I can not wait to see him in the next Batman movie. Another performance I thought was good was Henry Cavill as Superman. He definitely captures the struggles Superman must go through being such an alien to society. Superman is really the emotional core of the movie and you feel for him all throughout the movie. I loved the fight sequences toward the end of the movie as well they had me on the edge of my seat. Also, the opening of the movie is visually stunning and literally took my breathe away.

So, is Batman v Superman a perfect movie the answer is no it is not and it is not a horrible movie either. The movie does have some flaws and is not the best superhero hero movie I have ever seen. I do think audiences should go see the movie and not listen to the critics or the low scores of this movie. It is enjoyable and I did walk out of the theater excited to see what the future holds for the DC characters and the universe
