You don’t have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to be great. – Les Brown

Lately, I have been struggling to get through my days of school and work. It seems like every day I am bombarded with a thousand new assignments, tasks, and events. All of these new things are resting on my shoulders and making it hard for me to devote the time needed to them all. Along with not having enough time, I feel like I am not putting forth the “great effort” that I need to be. I want to be the person who puts everything into the tasks she is doing in order to succeed, but I am struggling to produce something “great”. My work seems half put together when I turn it in, and I don’t really know how to change that in the moment.

I stumbled across Les Brown’s quote today when I was scrolling through social media. It reminded me that this semester has just started and that I am still trying to figure out my schedule. In order to be great, or to produce something great, you just have to get started. For the rest of this week I am going to challenge myself to take the time to start assignments, and make them great. They all need time and attention placed on them, they all need a starting point. I am hoping that I can keep this quote in the back of my mind whenever I start feeling low again. Sometimes some words are all you need to find your starting line.
