What It’s Like Being Back During the First Week of School

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Vic chapter.

Ah the first week back to school. Leaves are falling, birds are leaving, and the sound of crying students fills the air. Hopefully you had the best summer ever, but that also makes the transition into September that much harder. Going from days by the pool to days in a classroom can be rough, but lucky for you – you’re not alone in this! Here is what inevitably happens to us all on that first week.

Waking up at 8:30 for that first Monday class.

But you obviously force yourself up because you have to make a good impression on your first day. Is the fleekness of your eyebrows directly correlated to your awesome GPA? Probably.

Can we all take a moment to appreciate Pumpkin Spice Lattes conveniently coming back right before school starts?

What is the plural of syllabus? Not even the professors seem to know, but someone should probably figure it out because now you have five of them.

First day is over! But now it’s the second and you’re sad that you have to wake up this early everyday for the next eight months and you’ve already proven how good you can look, so day two looks a little more like…

You get your first assignment and suddenly it’s all too real.

You thought it couldn’t get any worse, until you’re in line at the bookstore with all your textbooks, adding up how much it’s going to be.

The rest of the week goes by in a blur of introductions and [insert plural of syllabus here].

Then finally… Friday! One week down 31 to go until next summer!
